What is the story behind the reason for PvP in GW? - Guild Wars Forums

I don't want to ask "what is the point of PVP" that is obvious, to have fun.

However, what is the purpose for PVP within the storyline of GW? Is this explained anywhere in the game?

I bought GW and look forward to playing it, but with finals and WoW I haven't really found time.

umm... i dont know the answer to your question, i only say this, "why does pvp in a game called guildwars need a story?"

on another note, drop WoW, GW is better.

I just figured that since the leveling up process has a story, the reason for PVP would have a story as well.

The Random Arenas have a story, go to the Ascalon arena and talk to the NPC there, he tells you the story of it. Also, in the manual you can read about the story of the Hall of Heroes and the Guild Battles.
