i havent played a rpg game before, GW is the first one and i really like it. my question is about weapons. what does it mean when the damage says something like 3-6 damage? does it inflict 3 to 6 damage?

Yep, it's the base range for damage. That means, without any other enchantments or upgrades, your weapon will do somewhere between 3 and 6 damage to an enemy.

Also, some weapons later on will say something like 11-20 dmg (Req. 7 Fire Magic)
Meaning to get the full potential out of the weapon, you'll need 7 fire magic on your attributes.
