BIG THANKS TO GUILD WARS! BEST RPG! BEST ONLINE RPG! My itty bitty review.
My review stands, this game is fantastic. Its all about RPing like it used to be, all rpgs should be done like this, imagine new final fantasies following this format! that would be wonderfull for us gamers.
Imagine an online rpg where you dont have to spend 3 months bare minimum to max out your char, relistically its 3 months minimum to actually get some eventfull quests and then its a year before you can max your char.Where bugs arent rampant, lag isnt horrendous, updates arent slow and few between and all the while you montly fees arent stacking up.... Well Guild Wars fills up all the great niches that mmolrpgs fail to touch on. Plus they are actually updating us with content and fixes and we dont have to pay a cent! Newb game: 10 Graphics:10 Sound @ Music: 7 Gameplay:9 Fun Factor:10 Storyline/Plot:10 Replay Value:7 Ending game:10-?(not done yet)- Ascension was hands down brilliant, as was the searing. Overall:10 Last edited by Lusence; May 12, 2005 at 07:35 PM // 19:35.. |

What? Levels 1-20 is more like the tutorial of the game. The game beings when you start Ascension IMO =P
Well, what do you do in other MMORPGs after you level to the max level with the best gear? At least in GW you can pvp and GvG without grinding to the max level. Unless of course, you like to grind, then well yeah, there's not much grinding in GW =D Definatley needs better/more varying music |

From what I can tell you hit lvl 20 at about 70-75% done stoyline wise. But as far as skills, quests, gear, professions etc your at about 40-50% done total after lvl 20. But i just hit the chain of fire area, i assume this is the very end quests/missions.

But, to be fair, the game was mainly billed as a PvP game anyways. I thought it was expected from the start that the large portion of your gametime would end up being PvP. Now, if you really don't want to do PvP, then I guess you'd have to wait for an expansion or something. |

I agree, the game does get fun at 20, but it is a fun that does not last and with this change to the arena system I am no longer able to play on my fav. map (Deldrimor).
"Curse you Anet.. Why must you fix that which is not broken???? |

If you finish all this you can still create your own guild, buy a guild house, and rank top3 in guild wars, and hall of heros which is a game in its self. Last edited by Lusence; May 12, 2005 at 07:37 PM // 19:37.. |

I am aware that this game was touted as a game where PvP was superior to other online games, but I do not recall reading that it was billed as a *mainly* PvP game. If it were, I and many here would not be *here*. -A |

Well I guess that's why there's no monthly fee?
If you didn't buy it for the PvP, then I guess there's really not much left for you to do. It's not like GW has any less content than the other big games, it's more like GW doesn't artificially insert grind between the find, so that's why its a lot shorter. |

For your fifty dollars (thirty if bought online) you recieved at least the 40-80 hours that you would from most RPGs. Any replay value after that is up to the player, much like any non-subscriber game. Sure, I find lots of replay value here. I will enjoy working each of my characters through the missions, as well as extensive PvP time. But I do understand the point made by those who don't want to replay. It's just that I can't find any logical basis to say that GW has provided anything less than any other game of it's type. |
