Important Info Concerning Armor From Collectors - Guild Wars Forums

I had to find this out the hard way - there is a MAJOR disadvantage in getting your armor from a collector as opposed to just buying it. Yeah, the armor looks cooler than what you can buy - HOWEVER - any runes that you add to that armor are lost forever. You cannot salvage items received from a collector. The sad thing is I knew that, but for some reason it didn't connect. Either through sheer luck or some subconscious failsafe mechanism, I never used any rune higher than minor on my armor. Whew. Still, I just wasted like 4 minor runes because I can't salvage them and the armor they are on is now obsolete.

SO, word of advice: if you are going to get armor from collectors - either because you like the look (that's why I did it), or because you lack the funds - do NOT put any runes on it you can't afford to throw away.

BTW I am pretty irritated by this - I at first loved the fact that I was getting different-looking armor by going out and spending time collecting things and bringing them to the collector. Not because of frugality - hell I have and have had around 20k gold for quite some time - but because like most everyone I like to have a little personalization in this game. Well, now that I have found Ranger armor 70 (which I am thinking is the best in the game, but I don't know for sure - if anyone has ascended as Ranger and gotten the top armor, please, let us know the best armor we can get), I have to go out and buy all the minor runes again except expertise, which I have a major rune of.

Anyway, just thought I would give a heads-up to everyone concerning this major pitfall.

oh so you can salvage youre armour and get youre runes back ? oh and thanks for the tip on not salvaging collectors armour

Prior to this I replaced my armor once since first leaving pre-sear, and I salvaged runes out of all the armor pieces I had them on... I believe it was 3, might have been 4.
