so why do these threads about how to make money in GW always have to turn into a "you don't need to farm, just play the game" slam-fest? you can't just play the game and expect to get eveything handed to you. people claim to have 10k by the time they hit droknar? well, buying that armor eats up about a little more than half of that, then what if you need some runes? I really wanted a rune of sup vigor when I got my final set of armor, but I sure as hell didn't have one laying around in storage. cheapest price I've seen for it was 10.5 plat. and the only runes I've found so far were minor and major runes for other professions that I didn't need. So, if it weren't for farming 1) people wouldn't have enough moeny to buy runes and other addons 2) there wouldn't even BE sup vigs for sale, because I sure as hell know if I ever found one I would keep it, and finding a second doesn't happen often

wow
Oh yes, I see what you mean. This thread is just bursting with excitement and information for confused people. Seriously, you should have just used the search button and posted there. Not trying to be mean, just don't try to waste space.

Selling intelligently is one important thing.
Material trader prices seem to change frequently, so if you have a stack of 200 Tanned hides, and he's offering 10 gold per stack of ten... forget him. However, there will be times when he's offering 70 or 80 gold per stack of ten. That's when it's time to make some dough. |

So now we're simply argueing semantics. Every stupid arguement eventually does. What I mean by "play" does not agree with your meaning for the word "play". Are you surprized?
My play is resulting in plenty of cash. Your play is not. Do you have to play my way? No. I don't even encourage it. You might not even enjoy it. Play the game to have fun in what ever way it's fun for you. |

I should be charging people for this but what the hell..
On the 2nd to last mission Abaddon's Mouth there is a wreckage not more then a 20 sec. run into the mission, there is but only a small patch of lava to slow you down (no mobs). Half way to the wreckage a NPC gives you a 50% speed buff, making this trick all the better. This wreckage will drop 1-3 items each worth no less then 40g. Figure an average of 60g every 20 sec, which is near 180g per min. You also have a small chance of pulling a dragon sword (I have gotten four so-far). This is by far the best way to get money. |

You know, I came to this thread hoping to find a funner way to make money to afford the 60k set of armor then "Farm Riverside for 50 hours". Insead I came here and found people worthlessly bickering. Thanks for the help guys.
Edit: It seems while I was typing up my message someone posted exactly what i was looking for! Thanks Leventh! Edit#2: Just tried Levenths method for an hour, and got approximately 4 platinum (a little less I believe) which turns out to be about 67 gold per minute, as opposed to 180, which is about 1/3 what he proposed. Etheir I had a horrible hour, or this really isnt such a great method of money making (FYI, Im a warrior and had sprint on the whole time, so I did it as fast as possibly could be done). For each 20sec run, there is the overhead of loading the mission, then leaving back to town. There is also the overhead of selling all the phat l00t when your inventory fills up. It would be better if it dropped cold hard cash so you could avoid going to the merchant. |

i did take that into account, that is why i lowered the average. playing in window mode i will have made at least 100g by the time i finish this post.
hmm.. forget to say that i use windborne speed.. that may be a small factor edit: lol ok look what ya made me do.. got my stopwatch out 24.55 sec on my last run.. sorry Breakdown (i used a clock) Enter Mission Load: 2.74 Wreckage Run: 24.55 Enter Town Load: 2.30 Complete Run time: 29.59 sec NPC sell time 25sec average of 80g a run (1+2+3/3*40g=80g) average of two loot per run (1+2+3/3) approx 40 open slots 20 runs before sell 20 runs = approx 10 min therefore every 10 min you must tack on 25 sec for sell time. ofcourse luck does play a large part on your payout.. as well as comp speed wait.. what was the topic again? 1,600g every 10.5 minutes is over 2x what I had gotten...maybe I need to do another hour run and see how it turns out...another thing, I found in early on in a mission a bunch of drakes that can't hurt me (hit me for 0) and theres a bunch of em, really easy to kill, maybe farming them would make decent money? who knows (though they didn't drop any runes or anything like that)....

i think the drakes you speak of are in Sanctum Cay, was told they were removed.. i'll confirm this in a min or so
edit: drakes are still there, but as i remember it the 7 imps along the way can really slow down the farming. Also the items sell to vendor for less. Last edited by Leventh; May 12, 2005 at 10:23 PM // 22:23.. |

Gold is important in GW unless it was in Diablo.
You are lvl20 and u need..... get best armor, get best weapon and most important get best rune's for ur classes. There is no way doing that without either Farming or Trading. People who just stop after reaching lvl20 will never be good in Pvp and ain't GW all about Pvp?? Good choice of skills and abilities is also very important. Before i reached lv16 with my char. i made 7.5plat, mostly by tradeing and selling materials to other players and never to vendors. Also by that time i had full set's of every common dye colors and 4 Black's, and bought by accident a mixed color dye from some1 which i never seen again in trade chat. Last 2 days i was buying out Steel but i noticed the 1.5p plate armor ain't no better from ringmail that u can get at collectors which is very strage to me. Anyways if u don't save gold u will never have uber equipment and basically suck in pvp. 0.05??? |

Just got a chance to play this game abit more, so I tried Drake farming for half an hour and got somewhere in the area of 4 platinum. Thats half the time for the same amount of money, I also got a lot better items in general, purples and stuff. Then again, I take no damage from the Drakes (their reg attack does 0 and lightning ball does 3-6, which my Mending heals faster then even 10 of them on me at once can hope to hurt me) and kill them pretty fast, so if someone has trouble with the drakes then it probably wouldnt be the best of options, but it does seem to be superior to the Wreckage farming was.

Gold hmmm seems i got 4 chars all just dinking around in game, and im level 10 just bought guild cape, and in my vault alone i have lots of craft supplies, and about 600g thats not taking into account all the gold still on my chars... i probably have near 4plat total and i already spent 2 for the guild... so let me see, yah gold is easy here heck just the same mission you ran at level 5 at level 7 but do it solo talk about making money, the end of the mission is not to finish it but farm the money you need at least thats what i do..

your 4 plat is chump change, be ready to throw down 10-15p on a rune.
