Scripting in GW
As many of you are probably familiar with, World of Warcraft allows the creation of macros using simple commands such as '/target' and '/cast', but then also allows the creation of much more complicated macros, functions, and even UI addons (i.e. Cosmos) by using Lua. My question then is this: to what degree does Guild Wars support the use of user written code or macros, and can addons be written in languages such as Lua?

I'm no expert on the subject but I've found the ctrl button to be all i need. Anything more complicated then that you should really be using vent to comunicate.
Oh, or did you mean setting up strings of skills and such? |

Well there are quickslots for weapons and my skillset changes all the time. Even when it's the same for PvP I rarely cast the same set of skills at once. I adapt to the situation.
What worries me with such scripts are things like farming bots and the like. I understand how scripts can help for mindless tasks and such but I find the GW interface covers most of these areas with comands already. i guess I'm just paraniod about seeing GW bots. I've seen Diablo 2 bots in action and the way some people won't leave the house without their bot playing the game for them and it distrubs me. Why play a game if you can build a bot to do it for you... Oh. To pwn everyone else. Erm.. sorry bout that. I guess I'm just bot paranoid. i kinda feel theres enough to learn in the game without having to master a small scripting language to get the most out of it. |
