What is the best pet to have for a Ranger?
I'm making a new character under the profession of a Ranger. What is the best pet to have? Should I wait a very long time and get something cool later on in the old world? Or does it not matter. Thanks

Best, or coolest?
There are several threads already on the "best" pet. Bear seems to have potential, although it's very difficult to acquire one in pre-sear. |

Yea I've tryed to get the bear and it breaks my charm every time. How do I charm it?
And your opinion, what is the coolest? |

The bear has a resist charm skill. At least the last time I tried it did. If you had the ability to disrupt and/or disable that skill it uses, either by yourself or with a friend, you could possibly get a bear. I know there are bears in pre-searing, but post-searing I have no idea.

Post searing you can get a bear, but it won't be easy. Your best bet is to find a group of level 20's to escort you. It's not far, but it's the deadliest stretch of land you will see until at least Ascenscion. If you leave Beacon's Perch from the southern exit, you will be in Lornar's Pass. You will have to be able to kill some Ice Imps and Pine Souls that are at least level 20. After those guys, if you are very sneaky and/or lucky, you can get to the bear without drawing the attention of the Ice Wyrms/Avicara in the area. Charm the bear (these ones don't have that break charm ability) and map the hell outta there.

It is easy, but you really need someone else with the ability to knockdown the bear in order to get it charmed. It's maul ability is what knocks you out of your charm. Bring a war/mo with bane signet and the hammer knockdown and have fun. They said it can take a bit, but anyone with a partner should be able to do it.

Warthog and the wolves look the best, definitely.... the cat is pretty neat too. Never had a bear. Just never get the birds... they just look bad.

I would have to say, stick with melandrus stalker, he will grow on you, and he levels almost the exact time you do too.

I've still yet to see any facts/numbers that show any pet being better than any other.
