Countless players
I just got this game last week.
i am amazed as i go thru the game, the number of pepople who are playing. each area has over 30 people , thats each check point. how long has this game been out? ive pl.ayed other games like empire earth and rise of nations. weve never had anywhere near as many active players at a time. is this just on the pc or is there a playstation version too? this game is huge. does anyone know how many people are playing this game at a time? |

They were smart... and put 20 inactive bot players on every section to make the game look super popular and stuffs.. yeh... Half the time you are playing, you are playing with computer controlled AI, and there is a 60% chance you will get an idiot bot

It's only for the PC and it's been out for a month now. The number of players is actually more then you imagined. Each district is created after 100 players occupy that space. Even though they don't maintain the 100 limit it's still a fair number to judge the amount of players online by. Therefore, if Ascalon City has 50 districts it rather fair to guess that there are at least 5000 players online at that time. This doesn't even take into consideration all of the other cities and each of their districts. I would venture to guess that every time that I've played there are probably upwards of 10000 or more players online.

pc only and in the upper left is a menu which drops down with the available districts for that area and each district has 100 people as well
when one district fills another opens this applies to all parts of the map serarately and does not count the people actually out playing lots and lots of people edit JDock where do people come uo with garbage like that? Last edited by Loviatar; May 17, 2005 at 09:01 PM // 21:01.. |

ah, the power of the instanced zones. And don't forget to count all the other instances of zones that are not cities that everyone is in at any one time, that you also can't see. I would guess on a prime time evening (US time) there are tens of thousands of people on... probably closing in on 100k or even more. Jana |

Actually... I believe there are already 1.5 million subscribers worldwide (America/Asia/Europe). Since players from Asia, Europe, and America can migrate into each server using the option in "Edit Account Info" (careful: can only be done 5 times)... There are tons of people playing throughout the day. The American servers currently have the largest player base, but there are American/Asian/European players on all of the servers.
Impressive game.... truely. |

They just announced that the game has sold 250,000 copies since launch so I wouldn't think that there are 1.5 million players world wide. Besides, that how many WOW players there are worldwide and that's been out for over 6 months now.

The fun thing is when you get towards the end and look around the areas.
In Ascalon there's often 40-50+ districts. Later on it isn't uncommon for areas to have 1-2 districts. It'll be interesting to keep track of how that changes over time. |

The game will have been out a month on the 28th but they released a "demo" at E 3 last year, then a few months later had a World Beta Event for a week end then opened the servers one weekend a month for 5-6 months before release and let the pre-order people start playing a day early. So before release I had already played the game 6-7 times as has a lot of the peolpe here. Some had seen about 2/3rds of the game. It just grew word of mouth.
