Strange Item Drops? - Guild Wars Forums

Okay.. Is anyone else having issues with Items dropping?

Example. This has happen to me 5 times today. 3 times with Blue drops. and 2 with purple drops. The items are one of the following or like: Summit Axe Gear, Char Gear, or Ash Gear. Sorry I dont know the exact names but you do know what I am talking about. Usually. Its a rune? Right? You get a blue/purple drop you ID it - it unlocks something special. Except these. They are indeed purple/blue, they do say Unidentified. When I ID them - nothing... just as if they were a white drop. All it does is suddenly tell me the vaule and to use a salvage kit. So I salvage them anyway. Some cloth, ignot..usual.

Anyway, Is this a bug or is this normal? Because I have never had this happen before?

Not exactly. I've came across several purple drops that weren't unidentified and just salvaged as normal. Why they were purple I'll never know.

A question I had but never seem to have asked. Yes, it has happened to me on a few ocassions and it is very odd. You'd expect a colored/rare item drop might have some sort of stat listed on it instead of after IDing it you find that its just like a regular white drop but just a different color.

Its frustrating when that happens cuz its a waste of my ID kit but I guess it really doesn't matter since its only happened twice or so to me. And where I'm at in the game I can easily afford another ID kit once I use up all 25 of the previous one.

The biggest thing I've noticed with the kind of drops you are talking about is that those items tend to either have some minor effect like a really skimpy bonus or are just more valuable than the standard white drops are

These items tend to have better salvagable items, as in rare crafting items. This happened to me earlier today, but when I used an expert kit, I salvaged a good number of rare crafting items.
