Need a Retroactive Change
Not sure where to file this, perhaps I just misunderstand a topic, but, seems like a fair place to start. Anyway, me and this guy had gone on discussing for a while about the ins and outs of PvP on our new characters after completing the academy. At some point in the conversation, we got to sectional armor values, and then on the subject of our appreciation for gladiator armor. I said that the big problem was the chest having no +20Phys AR, he swore it did, I swore it didn't because I'd discussed with people that I wanted the Marhan's Grotto chest piece because it apparently had it, but wasn't going to purchase until I had a major axe rune for it.
So, he set out to prove it to me, I set out to prove it to him, we met in Droknar's Forge where we purchased the armor originally, and I showed him my chestpiece, he his, lo' and behold, his has 20 Phys AR, and mine does not. Thinking he might just have the Grotto armor, he assured me and I checked the armor merchant, once again, lo' and behold, the armor from both Morgren and Siegfried (I just made sure to check Morgren, who I had purchased my armor from originally) both have chestpieces with +20 Phys AR. Apparently for since whenever this was changed, I've been running around without a chestpiece properly armored, he suggested I get another, but, I don't feel like spending money on what should've been a retroactive change, and I'm sure someone else has this same problem. |

Man, you got a right to be frustrated.
Now, in dealing with dev changes, lots of code goes into anything. To make it work with all our PCs, even more. Therefore they chose to not allow old items to gain new characteristics after the first update. Old fur squares will not stack with new. There is no retroactive, and I hate to say that, cause it's a crying shame in your case and many others. My only hope is that you can salvage part of the required materials from your current piece of armor. normally people are in a huff for nothing, but you got your right this time. |

Yeah that IS tough luck indeed, hopefully the devs wont beupdating things quite so reguarly (armor and item wise) they need to stick to one thing otherwise everyone will soon have this prob

Wouldn't this be the same as if someone bought a pair of Levi's 501 jeans in January only to find out that they ended up adding an additional pocket come March? Or similar to purchasing a 2004 model car that has a certain type of radio when the same exact car has a different type of radio for the 2005 model? You both have the same pair of jeans or the same type of car it's just that your earlier model doesn't have the same features. If you want the latest and greatest version then you will need to fork over the extra cash.
Just my opinion of course so take it for what little it's worth. |

Nahh not really the same thing. Kind of annoying yes, but that's the breaks of an online game. Things change a lot when the game first comes out (even though it has been in beta forever) but the changes will slowly die down. Then they can focus on the new content! (Not like it matters to me, seeing as I'm only halfway through the game and have about 9% of the map explored)

Maybe you can sell it as 'rare pre-patch armour!'
I know in many online games people love to collect bugged and pre-fix items, just because you cannot get them any more 100g bid to start! |

Florida, this would be like getting a truck in january and finding out they found out the anti-lock brakes, or four-wheel drive, something, doesn't work right come march, in other words...a recall. The problem is, this isn't an enhancement, and because it is merely information retroactive changes are plausible in that case, but here it is fixing an issue, since all other pieces already held the 20 Phys AR.
I have plenty of the items to create another one, I will probably end up doing so, and Tormunda has the right idea, since I've been thus far clearing storage space like a mad man. Thanks for the support, maybe I can get them to reimburse me soon or something. I'm just glad I went with silver and a minor rune instead of holding out for my first major axe and black dye...that could've hurt. Not to mention now I have to do another infusion run...that is the problems it is creating. |
