you need to be a ranger and charm the pet when you find it in the wilderness (granted you dont have a pet at a time (if you do you need to find a tamer (usually outside of cities) and give up your pet (like my use of parenthesis in parenthesis in parenthesis )))

It isn't that simple at least in pre -searing ascalon. The bear uses a move called break charm wich cancels ur charm animal.the only way i have found to prevent this is to knock the bear down. Maybe tho you can charm a bear later in the game easier than this.

And wolves are available in pre-searing too (just not snow wolves). And there are Striders and Moa Birds (they look the same to me, might be like wolves and snow wolves). Last edited by Epinephrine; May 11, 2005 at 07:13 PM // 19:13.. |

yeah striders and moas are the same. if you tame a strider when it levels to level 6 it will become a moa, then at level 10 becomes a strider again.

i got my bear pet at lvl 10 when i got to becons pearch. Go down way south into lommars pass and you will find one its 3/4 of the way to the next zone down their right near where the frost wyrms spawn in. Im sure if you did some ninja moves you could get their with just henchmen. I did it with some henchmen and 2 real people took us a couple of runs. Sometimes the bear spawns where you can't get to him easily so you have to retry but he always spawns as far as i can tell.
oh and the bear has a special attack called mauling i dont have enough points in beast mastery to see if he does any damage though. These bears however do not have break charm skill so its easy to charm em. so far i havent seen a pet on fire island... so i think that may be it and i heard the spiders were not charmable. Sadly enough, you can not tame spiders. I've tried it before. It says something like "Invalid Target" or "Not an Animal" or something like that.

Upon reading the rest of this thread, I see that Rasp has already covered all of that. About the bear pets though, I have no idea...I only read this post hoping someone could answer. Looks like Draken has the best answer |
