North Wall, Pre-Searing suggestions
Hiya,
Level 8 ranger, with little to no focus in elementalist here. I was wondering if any of you folks could extrapolate on your successes hunting the named bosses beyond the north wall in Pre-Searing. I've had someone tell me that a necro/mez combo at level 7 can handle it, but they always seem to turn me into dog meat. Do you recommend brining the level 5 guy along? Also, is this even worth toiling over, are by level 8, are you just better off and going into the rest of the game? thanks for any info on this. |

Completed the Northern lands this weekend with my girlfriend. Took about 4-5 hours. We did it duo with me Level 7 War/Rng and her Level 7 Monk/Ele.
It was very difficult. We died a lot. Doing any single mob was fairly easy. It was doing groups of 3 and 4 that were really tough. We had to bait and run a lot. Sometimes that enabled us to lure just 1 out. Also used a bow and pet to pull mobs. Occasionally we'd get two and my pet would luckily keep one busy just long enough for us to drop the first one (pet usually died). For the really hard fights where we couldn't break a group of 4, we'd tag them and run them all the way back to zone out. There are a few guards there but most importantly a monk there who helps heal you. If you don't pull them in too close you can get free heals and still get lucky enough to get the kill and exp. The trick is making the run all the way back to the gates. Took a few deaths tagging. It sure wasn't a pretty way of doing things, but it worked. Got some really nice drops in there. Most fun I've had yet. Hope this helps. |

Few more things..sorry forgot
Not sure which named it was (I think it was Blaze), but he heals a LOT. At first you start thinking, "this guy wasn't meant to be killed", but thats not true. He heals for a certain amount each time. The trick is doing a lot of DPS in between his heals. You've got to drop him fast in health, then he heals, the drop him even more, then he heals, then even more...etc etc. Eventually you can do slightly more damage to him each cycle then he can heal. After about 6-8 cycles of dmg/heal you eventually get him. You need good energy management though. It also helps if you have a good weapon for dishing out dmg. I was lucky enough to get a nice drop off of one of the other named (9-13 sword) so I advise doing Blaze last (he's the hardest imo). You also get morale points for killing the other bosses which equates to more health and energy regen. That comes in handy against Blaze at the end. So I guess it's best to kill things in a certain order. Good luck! Last edited by Titus Deathbrynger; May 16, 2005 at 03:49 PM // 15:49.. Reason: typo |

Ah I love this area. people asked me alot how one get's a level 10 character pre-searing. North wall is the answer (Don't ask me why you would do this. I only stayed to help out lower guild members)
I've come across many peeps that didn't know how to advance from pre-searing that had this place totaly pwned. I find having a tanker and a nuker works best here. The trick with the larger mobs is to take at least one of them with you. The other (And much more popular) trick is to lead them back to the start of the area where the NPC monk spamms heals and you can die and resapwn to your hearts content. The 4 named are a differnt matter. Firt off pick off as many of the minons that scatter the area. Try and draw a sigle named out. Trying to beat two named at once (Especialy that healer one!) is nerly impossible. I've done it, but it's not reccomended. I had my first rune drop in this place. The loot is very nice for pre-searing an I saved up the 2 plat for my guilds cape accidently just having fun with players curious of this area. I've come across an open gate that you can't walk through (I guess it's ment to be shut) and a chest that never has anything in it. Having a skilled and determined partner is half the challenge of this area. But It's a blast when you get it nailed. I'd like to take this oppertunity to thank the guild wars devs for putting this area in for us to torture ourselves with. I don't know why but I just seem to keep going there everytime I creat a new char. Last edited by Thomasuwoo; May 16, 2005 at 04:38 PM // 16:38.. Reason: And a chest spawns randomly in this area that I've NEVER once seen drop ANY loot from opening. WORST GRAMMA EVER |

Lol, yeah, it can really humble a player in this area. My first build was/is a w/e now level 9. I didn't play this part, but instead chose to move on and go on the quest that leads to the post searing time.
Anyway, now I'm playing a n/r build. I'm at level 6 and am enjoying myself this time around and doing all the quests. This morning I went on the North Wall quest with another n/e person. It was pretty cool since we both had pets, and undead, to slow the advances of the Charr. In the mean time we could do life siphon and vampiric gaze to weaken them and replenish ourselves as needed. It made for a nice solid combination. IMHO had we been two warriors and been doing hand to hand, it would have been a lot tougher. |

Mes/Nec Combo
The reason that the Mes/Nec combo works well early on is because you get skills that work together to weaken one target really well. Soul Barbs deals ~20 (depending on attribute) with every hex cast, so faintheartedness, backfire, even conjure phantasm stack up. It's a great combo for really weakening bosses, and the backfire works well against the healing boss.
I and an ele/ranger nearly had it cleared out (about 5 more, only 2 named) when I had to leave. Yeah, I felt bad, but I was giving warnings and the player understood. Plus it was just a bwe, not during release. Matt |

I figured out that you'd need another player today but not many are willing to team up hoped I could go it alone. Thanks

If you can't get someone to help you do the mission, you can simply ask them if they will just go and open the gate to let you in, then skate out and let you do your thing.
Also, you can try switching to another district where there are different peeps who may be willing to help. Just go to the top left of your game screen, and click the arrow to drop down the menu of different districts. Click on any one you want then the game will ask you to confirm your choice to leave the current district. Say yes, then you will go there. |

The Easiest way to kill the Charr without dieing (very much) is to lure them to the Academy Monk at the front gate, with her and the Ascalon Guards, its SOOO EASY to kill the Charr, Remember, you all got this idea from me!!
