Small Roadblock Problems/Questions
Greetings! I am an Australian named Kevin. I have read reviews on the internet. I have asked people and I am very temped and drawn in to the possibility, of downloading and installing GuildWars, and buying the KEY online.
I have many concerns, and have had a few problems attempting to do so. Please can you address my following problems, offer solutions, and advice? After much excitement reading information and seeing movies, and screenshots of this wonderful game. I looked for information in regard to the system requirements; I ended up having to resort to dvdboxoffice.com sales website to find the data which happily was within the abilities of my PC. So I clicked the Download Client and proceeded to install. Firstly I am presented with a problem; since I am low on disk space I am wondering whether the game has enough room. It proceeds, so that???s fine. I have 1.5GB free. My first large problem is that the program downloads ???something??? I am assuming the game files at 30~50Kb/s whilst the launcher ???I presume??? is running. This is stunningly slow, but ok for updates I guess. Upon trying to create an account and derive myself a key, I am told to go to plaync.com which unfortunately does not work in Internet Explorer. So I promptly download Mozilla/Firebird. And it works! Next I go through the process of clicking buy! buy! buy!. I find myself at a screen suddenly asking for my credit-card details, and a strange number 29.99 with what I assume is a Pound sign. So I am forced to go to http://www.bankofcanada.ca/en/exchform.htm and convert what I imagine this number to be UK-Pound -> to AUD-Australian dollars, and I am shocked to see it is $72. Interestingly the price of the CD???s and packaging from dvdboxoffice.com is $10 less than this. I also notice the cost of having this shipped, and all the other costs involved in retail disk sales. I can???t imagine paying more than $50AUD for this game taking away all those costs. Lastly, I am still temped to pay $72 given it is a huge price. How will I receive this game? if it is in the form of a 70kb.exe file, which downloads 4GB ???My guess??? at 30-50kb/s I wont be to happy, since using a multi-thread download manager I can sustain over 700Kb/s from http://www.guildwars.com/gallery/movies/default.html Thank you for reading. Here is a summery. What is the price? Why is the price $72AUD? After paying 29,99 Will I have a link to a large zipped file or will I be downloading at 30kb/s from this "Client"? How big is the game? |

Yea .. I feel you man , lol. I live in Adelaide and i had the same problem , but in the end i went here http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/241739.asp
Here the game is about $80-100, so paying about $75 plus handling is much better , but it didnt come with any bonus but it clearly said 'With Bonus' but i didnt get the bow , but well i saved $20 instead of going to Big W or EB over here. Its about 1.5-2 Gb to install from the discs.. |

Thanks for the reply, great to know another Australian is playing it.
Updates are infact great at 50kb/s I'm happy with that but to have to download areas every time I enter a new one would get on my nervs. reinstalling would be insane. I might buy it from dvdboxoffice after all its cheaper |

When you're downloading game content (new areas while playing the game), it's hardly noticeable. Half the time I play on a 112k connection (max download of 12.5kb/s) and the longest I have ever had to wait is 10 seconds, when going to a HUGE new area.
