I've just started, I'm pretty clueless, but I'm a Mo/Me and I'm wondering if I needed to be a mesmer as my primary profession.

Nope, you have access to all skills from both primary and secondary. Im an E/Me, but I dont remember where I got it from. Don't worry you'll find it

get it from Vassar at Foibles Fair in Pre-searing. If you are in post, get it from Sir Bertran in Ascalon City.
