Better Map: Exists now or should it be made?
I know there are lots of maps out there. I even saw one interactive one.
But I have yet to see a map that not only contained locations of areas but descriptions of all the NPCs in each area, and anything special about them (eg. what quests they give, what skills they train, etc). Include collectors and what they offer to each class. It could even include the walkable paths from one area to the next when such walks are possible. Since the information is out there, it seems like somebody could do this with an interactive map without much difficulty if they had all the information they needed at hand. Also the interactive map could have a drop down menu to focus on whatever location you like, since scrolling around these really big maps can be annoying. And even with a non interactive map one could use numbers for referencing. I would even pay a modest fee for having all this information in a convenient package like that. Much easier than having to keep turning back to online forums and looking up every piece of information when you need it, or even printing all the info up and having to shuffle through all the pages. This way, just point, click, and you have all the information at hand. I believe there is even a function in flash to turn a real graphic image into vector graphics. This would make the program small enough to run even if you don't have a huge amount of memory Pop I might even be willing to help script such a program if people want to join in on the project. But it is too big for me to do alone, even during the summer, since I am working on my dissertation as well. |
