Please HELP--Mission out of Ft. Ranik?
Can someone please give me possibly a tip or 2 on how to complete this Mission? My next attempt, getting OLD, will be my 4th. Almost made it the last time - got right to the Finish Exit place, I believe, and a zillion HUGE Charr smushed like a bug. I free the captive - kill all Charr along the way, repair the throwing machine - - - and blast what Charr in sight - - - I SEE on my Map what appears to be The Finish Gate off to my Left and Forward from there - - - - we go down in the trench and run for it - - - get to the end and backtrack to where it appears you must go to Finish the level, went up out of trench and headed that way last time and all HELL broke loose. I am still bruised and bloody - DEFEATED! Rats!

Is this the trebuchet mission? If so...
After repairing the trebuchet and blasting the sea of red dots (Charr), follow the path down the hill again to the right. To the right of the gate, you will see another trebuchet. Set it up, but do not fire it. Someone in your party will have to approach the gate and aggro the Charr. Most of them will congregate around the fire pit in front of the gate. Fire the second trebuchet to kill them off. Follow the path towards the gate again, but stick to the left so you can pick off the remaining Charr. Once through the gate, you'll have one more boss. |

Thanks Swampgirl for the tips - - - I still got POUNDED, but I did find the other throwing device and used it BUT since I play alone using henchmen I don't believe I can send anyone out to draw Charr before "bombing" them - unless that go get em' Warrior would run out there but my "cat" would to - anyway, I threw a few out there with the 2nd device and then tried going left down that trench toward the Finish point. The Charr, as you know, are much smarter and much more aggressive here than anywhere so far - I did not get far and I was being attacked - the CRAPPY part, and this has happened befor at this stage of the game - I use my cursor to click on the Charr I wish my Ranger to start firing on from a distance - but my lousy Ranger takes off hell bent for election right into the middle of ALL the Charr not firing sicum. 2-3 times now for one reason or another it takes my command as MOVE here - NOT fire upon this Enemy and I am getting POUNDED to death. I am afraid I am about to throw the towel in on this Miission - - - any more good tips that might bring me success?

You can draw the charr out yourself. Just aproach the fire pit then as soon as they start to run out just head back to the trebuchet and fire it.

If you're using the mouse pointer to select enemies, be very careful that you're clicking on them and not the ground. I, too, have done this and begun running into the mob with my Elementalist when I originally intended to cast a spell.
I personally recommend using whatever hotkeys you have assigned for selecting and cycling targets. It takes some using to get used to, but once you are used to it, it's a whole lot more efficient. |

You can also circle around to them on the far sid away from the trebuchet and draw off small packs if your careful, taking them down 3 at a time. The trebuchet is a nice alternative way to slaughter them all, but it's not required. Be aware, there is a boss at the top of the stairs that you must kill before the mission will end. (he's got 2 or 3 friends with him)

as you stand at the first trebucket looking at the wall i made my (solo with henchies) approach from the left and used a longbow (i am an elemonk) and 1 single hot key (target closest) to make sure i didnt click to move rather than click to target
as soon as the arrow is shot and before it lands RUN back the way you came and you will have only a few after you take care of them, rest and repeat as needed it worked for me might help you |

Please tell me you have Henchmen for this (started to think you're trying this by yourself)? Why don't you join a player group? If you are grouped, then find a more capable group, that mission was VERY easy. We did the main and bonus in about 20 minutes.
