My pet is a stalker, now level 19. If I ditch it and get a different pet (new to me) do they adopt the same level as the old pet, or start again with their own level back at !?
Also, athough my pet is level 19 and I've had it from the start, mine doesn't seem to have grown any. When does this happen? BTW what are thunderstones, and what are they used for? |

The pet begins at whatever level it is when you charm it - it has nothing to do with any previous pet's level.
If your pet is 19th level, I am sure it has grown, unless you charmed a 19th level animal - in which case I'm sure there are plenty of people that would like to know where you found it. |

So how do you tell what level a pet is at before you charm it?

To my understanding/experiences all pets grow.
Anyone have a pic of a warthog? Was anyone else pissed when they found out you couldn't charm Oink? |

It makes total sense that pets would grow. From a programming point of view you just have to change a couple variables, the difference between a wolf the size of your fist and one the size of a house is just a number. But from a RP perspective it's necessary. Having a pet grow in size and skill would encourage you to keep it instead of constantly changing when you find something else.

so far i've loved and hated pets. started with the stalker and quickly got rid of it and got a wolf because I didn't want to be stuck with what they gave me. Then I got to post and needed to get another stalker (so hard to find until I did the shaleiv quest; had to do it twice because I had to go back and released my wolf). Then my stalker got to about 10 as well and then I got to yaks and got a snow wolf. I think im going to stick with it for a while.

Alrighty... I'm pre-searing and I want a bear? I'm a W/R and those Black Bears are totally awesome.
Is there any way at all to get my mitts on one of those beasty things? |

well my snow wolf is now level 14 (starts at level 5 of course) and its still the same size as the starting snow wolfs as far as I can tell. Maybe the boost is at level 15? There are plenty of animals you can't tame. There were spiders in pre searing that you couldn't tame as well.
