Need PvE Build (Solo)
Looking for a good PvE build that can handle itself solo. Would prefer to avoid W/Mo. Also, the option of some PvP would be nice if possible. Thanks.

I haven't played any PVP so can't help you there (I'm a PVE player exclusively), but I have tried a buffet of combos up to level 10. I'm guessing anything at all with Mo in it will be a great solo (whether it be Monk primary or secondary). Being able to heal yourself is just too handy. Although all classes have a way of healing themselves none do it as good as the monk imo. It also keeps things fast paced.
My favorite so far is the Elemental/Monk combo. Very powerful. |

another choice is ranger monk for the increase in armor and the longer range of the longbow/flatbow for drawing mobs

I like that idea..Ranger/Monk. That might be fun, but then again the ranger class seems to be the most upset in the game over their class so perhaps not.

I haven't tried it personally, but I believe that a necro/ranger can create practically limitless numbers of minions at the start of an area by animating their own nature rituals. With enough minions, you could probably solo practically any area in the game. This feels rather exploity, though.

I go with a elementalist/necromancer build with fire/energy storage/ and blood magic. It works well solo, between using the signet of restoration, and the life siphon plus the aoe spells, you stay pretty well healed and do some awesome damage in the process. it has a slightly different tempo I've noticed then most are used to, but if you're solo that shouldn't matter much.

I was also considering Elem/Me or N/Me...any thoughts on these two builds?

I'd suggest fire, energy storage, illusion, and inspiration. |

Personally I have found that E/Mo's make the best farmers

To solo well, especially in later part of game (passing Lion Arch), you need to have monk as either primary or secondary profession. It's because you'll need helps from henchmen and they die often. You need only one monk skill, that's either resurrect or rebirth as you'll need to rez your henchies A LOT.

Help from henchmen isn't solo, that's grouping with henchmen.

Those monks and e/mos can only solo at CERTAIN places, with very specific builds tailored to fight at those places. Basically, a farming build. That's as close to solo as you're going to get, because there is no possible way to solo missions and quests in the later part of the game. Monsters are only soloable if they deal straight up damage. Once they start putting conditions on you, removing your enchanments, start hexing you, draining your mana, cancelling your spells, or outright blowing you away with massive elemental damage, pretty much all farming builds fall apart.
However, there are exceptions. Some missions like Riverside and Sanctum Cay are definately soloable, provided you have a sprint skill to run through most of the mission. However, I believe it is impossible to solo mission starting from the Desert. |

I soloed with henchies all but 2 miisions up to the desert with my R/Mo. The ability to rez your henchies is invaluable. Be warned though. I have found it hard to get pickup groups with my ranger at the high end. If you are guilded not a problem probably, but if you rely on working with strangers manytimes, you will have much less of a problem getting a group as a monk, warrior or elementalist primary.

Hm, I'd rather not talk about my E/R then, I never manage to go solo, except with henchmen of course, any idea how to make my E/R work solo? What build do I need to make him a farmer?
