1) I have searched in many places, but have not found any info on the different types of damage. Let's say I'm a warrior with a sword. What is the difference between me doing fire, cold, or earth damage?? Is it self explanatory? e.g. fire -burns, ice - slows, earth -knockdown ??? Or is it different?

2) Can you upgrade shields? If yes, with what? Runes?

3)Does ranger's skill "Apply Poison" work with melee weapons?
I found a RARE poisoner's sword with increased poison duration, so I guess it must have a purpose.
If this does work, can anyone advice if it's better to make a ranger/warrior or a warrior/ranger for a build that uses sever artery + apply poison?

1- Some mobs are resistant to certain elemental damage, so other types might hurt them more. In pvp it means you are no longer doing physical damage so you are more likely to have a higher damage output.

2 - NO shields are what they are, nothing you can do to change them. same with focus items and 1h casting weapons

3 - I believe it does I would recommend a W/R to have better armor.

Different types of elemental damage on your weapon will affect the Elementalist skills Conjure [Element]. Also, certain armor of players and monsters is weaker or stronger against certain elements.

You cannot upgrade left hand items.

Apply poison works on all weapons.
