Damage is too low, poor +% mods, crazy high requirement. I can't give you a definite price, but don't expect too much.
I'm not trying to be a jerk (although I usually do ) but here's some tips on how to spot a good bow: High damage (maximum is 15-28) Low requirements (I've seen 14-28 req 8 marksmanship) Good damage mods (+15% while health is above 50%, etc.) And it helps to not have a bad mod like Vampiric, so people do not have to replace it. So, instead of having Vampiric, find a bow which has Ebon or something, so people get a 2 in 1 (whereas for this bow you would have to buy your own Ebon) Get + health instead of +defense. If you have that, and on a good bow (Half Moon, Short Bow, Flatbow) then expect to sell quite high. If it's on a storm bow or eternal bow...that's probably the most perfect bow on the market. Have fun bow hunting |

I spotted someone selling it for 500g and figured it was a good buy. can anyone give a rough estimate of what they think it's worth?

only thing I'm afraid of is that I purchased it for 500g expecting to yield a profit...I figured the bow was worth atleast a few plat. If I expert salvage it there's a very good chance I just spent 500g for 8 wood planks...lol |

Last I checked vampiric bows weren't used for healing.

Then I'm afraid I don't know the main purpose people use Vampiric bows. And neither do the majority of the people who post about them on this forum. Please do tell
EDIT: I hope it's not to salvage a 5/1 string and sell it off for a high amount of cash >.> |

IMO the only reason to even use one for pvp is for the extra damage. PVE is fine to use it for healing as the monsters won't see a half dead ranger trying to heal back to full by standing near everyone and using barrage. |

Since when did Vampiric add damage? You said "vampiric bows weren't used for healing" but you replied that their main uses are for barrage and to add damage.
Well vampiric mod alone does not add damage, and the use of vampiric with barrage is for the purpose of gaining life. I don't get it, you haven't added anything new to the conversation or proved that I was wrong in any way And I was hoping to gain some kind of secret strategy to actually use vampiric bows too... |

If you use vampric you gain like .5 life IF your attacking at every moment. The point of vampric is to deal more damage as MCS said.
Note what vampric says: life STEALING, which means the life you gain comes from the opponent you hit losing life. Albiet 1-3 damage extra is not alot, but over time it helps. |

Ah, sorry, I'm a retarded Diablo II veteran. In D2, life leech simply took a portion of the damage you dealt and gave you that much life.
But in GW, it seems to me that the vampiric number (1-5) deals an extra 1-5 damage and you gain an extra 1-5? Correct? Vampiric seems like a pretty good option for a secondary bow, then. But I stand by my stance that when shopping for a main (or even, your first) good bow, then I would not use vampiric as one of the mods. Sorry for the confusion, MCS |

the .5 is normal attacking with a 2 second bow and a 5:-1 string.
Meaning the only way to gain a significant amount of life with it would be to use skills. However if you are damaged and need the life the last thing you want to do is run in range of 3-5 targets to spam barrage. You'd get owned a hell of a lot faster than you would gain life. I didn't say barrage+vampiric was a main use, I said it was it's ONLY use for life stealing which isn't very effective. Many believe that it gives you as much damage as it's taking but no one has proven it, on the other hand, no one has disproved it. I'd like to believe that they were thinking of something more than .5 regen a second with the fastest bow and a perf string when they made the vampiric. A mod thats only useful with an elite skill isn't something that they would put into the game so I'm forced to assume that it DOES in fact add the damage. Quote:
In the normal world 100% increased attack speed would be 2x as fast, but not for blizz . |
