Installation troubles...
Hello everyone, I'm new to the GW Community (just bought the game yesterday.)
I completely wiped my computer of everything before installing Guild Wars, hoping to make more room for the game. I have since reinstalled AOL, my anti-virus program, and a few other things. Just about all my drivers are reinstalled. On to my problem... Whenever I try and connect, my game says 'Unable to initialize 3D output. Please verify that you have installed DirectX 8 and an updated video driver.' Well, I went to the GW website and tried to install the DirectX listed on the site they gave, but I'm not sure if anything happened. Also, if it did, then what's the problem? Could it be my graphics card? I play on a laptop which has a ATI Radeon Mobility 7500C...I'm not sure if this is good enough, but I thought that the laptop video cards were supposed to be a little better than their counterparts. I would like to check to see if I have DirectX installed to see if I should try again, so if anyone could tell me how I'd appreciate it. I really appreciate any help that any of you can offer, thanks! |

Window Key + R
type "dxdiag" press enter that will tell you what version of direct x you're running. *edit* Use Windows Update to get the latest version if you don't have it. Should be 9.0c |
