About the system requirements
Ok, I haven't bought Guild Wars yet, but I read the minimum and recommended system requirements. I think my video card is good enough, my CPU is around 1.5 Ghz, BUT my ram is only 256 (matching the minimum, but not enough for the recommended). This is my first online game that I might play, where my computer is only good for the minimum =/
Can anyone tell me if that 256 RAM part is gonna make me lag in game? Personal experience would be best. Thanks |

My g/f had 256MB RAM and it was painfully slow... but still playable.

you may want to check out the Technician's Corner http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/f...splay.php?f=16 for help on this matter. You may get a quicker response.
PS - My guess would be it would run slowly with only 1.5Ghz and 256k RAM. But that's just a guess. The people who know for sure hang out in tech corner |

I'm on 3 ghz, 512 RAM, 120 gig HD, and I run considerably slow, I must run with all low graphics. The problem is my video card, as is with most players. Pay the most attention to the video card you're using...

No offense, but I just must ask, who the hell buys a 3ghz machine and doesn't put a gig of RAM in it or a decent video card? If you don't need Video or RAM you don't need a 3 gig machine- buy a 2 gig, they work just fine for the needs.

RAM is important for Guild Wars. You'll find loading times to be pretty bad as it stands, especially if you also have a hard drive with a low RPM. If possible, I'd upgrade to at least 512MB. It's really worth it: you can get another 256MB stick for about $25 if it's DDR, and you should notice a speed up in general use. It might be a problem if you're using an old motherboard and don't know what RAM you currently have, though.

RAM is important. Full stop .
For gaming the most important things are a good video card and RAM. After that it'd probably be the processor and a fast hard disk would be nice too. |
