Attempting to solve an issue regarding Skill Points and Profession change...
I'm a bit uninformed here. I've heard that you can viably obtain every skill in the game through changing your secondary profession, which is a great thing for completionists such as myself. But the factor that i'm trying to decipher... when you change your secondary profession, where do you get all the skill points to buy all the new skills for your changed profession? I mean, if you have to "level up" so to speak after you hit 20 just to get 1 point, seems like it would take FOREVER to collect all the skills. Anyone have any insight as to how this works? I would be much obliged if someone could dignify this with a response.

You can go back and do the quests that give the skills for your new secondary profession.

you can save points by getting the skill as a quest reward (if you can find it) instead of sprnding a point on it and sometimes a quest will give a skill point

Alright, so how do i accrue the skill points to get the elite skills for each profession? Is there an easy way? or just doing the levelling up method?

You're pretty much out of luck if you change professions too many times. The only quests you are gonna be able to do are those quests specific to your secondary (i.e. only give that class' skills). Any quests you already did that rewarded you with primary and secondary skills cannot be redone for your new secondary. So you either don't switch classes too much, or you level your ass off until you can muster all those skill points needed.

I was looking for an explanation of what happens to skills gained on a PvE character when you re-class their secondary profession.
I was wondering about the following things: 1.) Do all skills you have unlocked on your first choice of secondary profession remain unlocked if you choose a second secondary profession? In other words, if I played a N/Me and got all the Elites and other skills I wanted for my /Me profession, would my PvP characters still have access to all of those /Me skills if I changed to N/Mo? 2.) Do you get skill points used to buy skills for your old secondary profession refunded when you switch to a new secondary? In other words if I switched the aforementioned N/Me to an N/Mo, would I get all the skill points spent on /Me skills back? 3.) Can you revert back to your original secondary after trying a new one and get access to all your old skills again, or do you need to rebuy them? In other words if I switched from N/Me to N/Mo then back to N/Me (if that's even possible), would my PvE N/Me still have access to all previously unlocked /Me skills, or would I need to go grind a lot and recapture Elites? |

Thanks for the clear responses Bgnome! I've been wondering about this too.
So, if I dropped my original secondary skill (Ranger) so that I could try out Necro for a day, I could go and do all of the "Necro quests" that I wanted, without spending any skill points. At the end of the day, I could go back to my original secondary (Ranger), and would have lost nothing. Is this correct? |

On a tangent, I am a completionist, somewhat. I like to unlock things for every class, so I made 3 RP characters that encompassed all 6 professions. So instead of switching secondaries on one character and grinding for skill points, I can play my 3 RP characters through the game and unlock everything as I go along. My 4th character I save for PVP only, and I try out a lot of builds with that slot, using the skills I unlock.

Hey, on a related note, what happens if you missed certain skills for your secondary class in pre-searing. If you switch professions and switch back, will these become available for free since I read in a recent patch you get all the starter skills when you switch professions.

http://cleaned.beyondunreal.com/temp...wardQuests.htm For example, if you are a W/Mo and you switch to W/E, you will be able to do Elemental Knowledge, Scorched Earth, Shalev's Task, Geomancer's Test, and A Heart of Ice, but not Helping People of Ascalon and Supplies for the Duke (assuming that you already did those two quests). Beyond those quests, you will have to learn skills by paying skill points. Last edited by theclam; Jun 20, 2005 at 06:40 AM // 06:40.. |
