Weapons - Guild Wars Forums

Hi. I haven't bought the game yet but plan to within a day or two. I'm just wondering if the weapons in the game are unique to the different professions, like, can a ranger on use bows, a warrior only use greatswords, and such. Any explanations would be appretiated, as this would be the final desicion on whether or not I do buy the game.

All players can wield any weapon they choose. However, most weapons have a requirement to fulfill. Only certain profession will be able to fulfill that requirement. For example:

Anybody may wield a Fire Staff. However, only a Fire Elementalist will be able to use it to its full potential.

Warriors
-Swords (1 handed only)
-Axes (1 handed only)
-Hammers (2 handed only)
-Shields

Elementalists, Monks, Mesmers, Necromancers
-Various Staves (2 handed)
-Various Wands (1 handed)
-Various Focii (energy booster items held in shield hand)

Rangers
-Bows (2 handed)

A good warrior will always carry a longbow so they can pull groups apart.
