how does this work?

is the weapon a seperate hit zone like chest, leg, hands etc? would make no sense because a weapon has no base AC

ie:
my stave gives me an armor bonus of 5. my chest armor has 60 AC, my legs only 45 AC.
when i am now hit on chest i have 65 AC and on legs 50 AC, right?
