Well, I searched the forums some, but couldn't come up with a good answer.

Apparently it is possible to get a bear pet from pre-searing, but you have to have a really hi beast mastery skill.
And you can only have one pet. |

you have to time your charm spell. wait for the bear to start his mauling attack then do it.

Curses : Faintheartedness
For the next 8-37 seconds, target foe's attack speed is reduced and that foe suffers health degeneration of 1-3. I don't think this skill would help much for breaking charms. |

I believe the person who did get the bear used faintheartedness to slow down the bear's attacks. Basically, The bear has a skill called maul, where there is an animation for it. It cannot use break charm until the animation is over. I'm guessing faintheartness might give you the extra .5 seconds you need or something (not sure exactly how this works).
Supposedly, you need a warrior to tank the bear, and get it to use Maul. You have to cast break charm before it uses maul, but time it so that right after you use it it goes into maul animation, and not break charm. Before the maul ends the warrior has to bane signet the bear (probalby start casting before maul animation, this probably needs a lot of timing as you need to make it so that the knockdown has to be before it can cast break charm, but still give the ranger time to let the charm bar go on for a bit) After bane signet you have to time a hammer bash so that it knocks the bear down. Too early or too late the bear will have a chance to cast break charm again. So it is extremely hard to do so. |

i have heard that they have made it even more difficult, if not impossible to charm bears in presearing.
you will be able to charm them much more easily later.

Bears used to be able to be charmed with a hammer warrior in your company. As of now, they interrupt your charm spell even after they're knocked down so that you can't charm them. And as for beast mastery -I charmed a black widow, as well as a bear, with level 0 beast mastery. We have alot of mis-informed posters here.
