What is the duration of Choking Gas?
Choking Gas (Preparation) For 12 seconds, your arrows deal 1..7 more damage and spread Choking Gas on impact. Choking Gas interrupts enemies attempting to cast spells.
Is Choking Gas a single shot interruption or does it have a duration like say Blindness? Last edited by Greentongue; Feb 17, 2005 at 01:05 AM // 01:05.. |

I guess this falls under the NDA.

No duration, it's basically just an interrupt on hit. Of course every one of your arrows interrupts which is what makes the skill good.
It might have a small AoE but I haven't noticed one. Peace, -CxE

Like other preparations, it gives it's effects to your attacks for the entire duration(in this case, 12 seconds). It is AoE, but the area of effect is really small- you're unlikely to interrupt anyone other than your target with it.

doh, I've been using it as if it had some lingering effect. I started to wonder when I realized there's no 'choking gas' condition. Also seemed to notice a couple people cast a spell right after I hit them. Oh well, guess it just found its way off my skillbar.

This spell is a huge pain to use. By the time I have it equipped, it's no longer there. I understand the strength it would have if it was saying, 24 seconds long, but I'm having trouble making it useful. Any tips? Am I missing something?

For 12 seconds every shot will interrupts enemies attempting to cast spells.
In other words it only works if they are in the process of casting. Other whys its just a little extra damage. Very powerful when dealling with a bunch of casters that use spells with long casting times... |

I find it most helpful at the beginning of an encounter.
I buff myself with it before the fight begins, and immediately target the most important caster with a fast-firing bow and turn on lightning reflexes -- unless they're already buffed with defensive skills, that caster is going to be essentially useless for the next twelve seconds, which is usually enough time for the combined attentions of my party to take them down (or at least put some serious hurt into them ) And yeah -- the AOE seems to be so small as to be effectively nil... too bad, but then again, pretty fair Nice skill though. It's not quite 'fire-and-forget', but pretty damn close as interrupts come |

The aoe is around that of epidemic, so it's not very reliable against groups. Against an elementalist it really does help, but you won't do as much damage as you would by using a different preparation.
