2 Noob questions. - Guild Wars Forums

1. What happens during ascension? what is the affects? what does it mean.

2. I plan to play a straight Ranger. If I am not going to take skills from another class, does it matter? for my RP plans and background, it does not make sense. Can I chooose not to ?

I am waiting for the game to arrive.

I played straight ranger all the way through to ascension then chose monk as my secondary so that I could keep myself live while soloing.....

ascension is a nifty way to force most players to the level cap.

Basically it's just another mission in the story line...there's a bit more to it but I don't want to spoil it for you.

You must choose a second profession, but you definitely don't need to use any of the second professions attributes.

ok.. so, I do or do not have to ? conflicting answers. And if I do take one, and don't ever take any attributes from it, does it affect me in anyway? Thanks.

i play straight ranger. i have a secondary of ele, i have no points in my ele atributes, and i do not use the skills, it will not hurt you in any way.

not conflicting...you MUST take a secondary to move out of pre-sear...but you are not required at all to use it. I chose Warrior in pre-sear. I never used a warrior skill or pushed up any warrior attributes. I used my character as just a Ranger....it will not affect you at all to not use the secondary skills or attributes(other than it limits your build choices)

It hurts you variability, as you only have one classes choice of abilities.

thank you. Lastly.. if I do ascend, can I still play the character, or does he become PVP only or something strange like that?

You will still be able to do PvE, and you have to, to beat the game, as there are more areas after Ascending.
