No flying pets that I'm aware of. Beast Mastery increases your beast mastery skills (pet healing, pet attacks, any "skill" associated with a pet is under Beast Mastery). You can't harness "any pet you want", but you can harness any animal that is "green" to you, like an ally would be.
As for whether or not they are "worthwhile", I think that would be personal preferrence. |

Y'have to put a lot of effort into playing the beast mastery attribute well. You might have to sacrifice overall attack power in order to put more power into the pet.
Then again, the pet is another life bar. You also get, essentially another 15-28 weapon at your disposal. Again, pets aren't exactly EASY to control...so be prepared to put lots of effort into trying to be an effective Beast Master. |

The biggest problem most people have with pets is sacrificing their own skills for pet skills. Be prepared to give up some power shots and start using pet attacks. In many cases the pet attacks are cheaper and more powerful than bow attacks.. but since you can't see the yellow numbers floating around showing you how hard the pet's hitting, you don't realize how much damage is adding up. In PvE, you eventually get a set of skills that makes your pet very tough to kill; if you supplement it with the right offensive skills, you can easily solo high level areas with your pet.
If you can't live with the sacrifice of "personal" skills for pet skills, you're better off with wilderness survival. Last edited by Tellani Artini; Jul 10, 2005 at 03:05 AM // 03:05.. |

For ranged attackers like rangers and elementalists Pets are Awsome they can block anemys and distract them while you bombard the enemy with spells or arrows. The give an extra bit of damage and if you get the right skills they can be even more powerfull than you!
It takes a lot of work to make pets work right and they are not for everyone. I find them essential in my game but not so important that if they die I go down with them |

Worth it if you go pure Beastmaster, not sure if it's good otherwise...
Basically, the pet attacks faster (roughly 1.75 with Call of Haste on - You should always have Call of Haste on) and does more damage hit-per-hit (At 12 BM, the Spider has 17-29 damage and is rumored to have an occasional Armor Penetration). I made a thread with my BeastMaster build which also gave out the general PROS and CONS of Pets. Check it: http://guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28456 For Pet stats-test: http://forums.gwonline.net/showpost....&postcount=123 |

that's it. They can't fly, you can't ride um XP Most people will tell you the Spider is the best pet but you can only get it in the underworld, which is pretty far into the game. The other pets are basicly all the same, save the type of damage they deal.

do a search there are tons of these threads where we have explained all this time and time again. Tellani Artini and BigTru have posted PvP builds, we've all debated the worth of pets over and over, there are full lists and locations posted too. |

In my experaicne and I've been researching them alot all pets are exactly the same expect for the type of dmg they inflict. Ie. slash/peice.
To all who say "But the guide claims the spider has the most armour have a look at what lvl the spider is listed. Stider is listed at lvl 1 with an ac of 3. Wolf at lsl 2 with an ac of 6. Moa at lvl 3 with an Ac of 9. Stalker at 5 with an ac of 12. Can't you see the patern here? Thye are gaining ac of 3 every lvl. 3 * 20 = 60 Spider is listed at level 20 with an ac of 60. I've heard that spider does the occasional posion attack but I've never ONCE seen mine do that. |

Is there ne way to get a pet earlier in the game, for instance getting a brown bear just after Searing? Or is the game a quest by quest game where u must follow a huge line of quests before getting newhere near the bear? Thanx

You can get a bear in pre-searing...but its bloomin hard. You might as well jsut get a warthog in pre-sear or stick with your stalker.

What do you think is the most common type of pet, and/or your personal favorite?
