ok listen to this
i was with a party at the thirsty river and we had got to the last section where there is three bosses. there was a 2 gold staffs and a gold peice of armour just behind us reserved for other people my party charged randomly into the 3 groups and obviously got slaughtered and i managed to escape with the hero as i was the monk hanging away from the combat. i did not have rebirth but i did have res but it was useless as they died as soon as i ressed them. so i decided to wait and pick up the gold items myself and they tried to report meand wouldnt stop private messaging me so i had to set them to ignore now i know for a fact that none of you would charge hopelessly to your deaths if you knew 3 gold items were going to be available in 5 min and you couldnt save your freinds. so is that still unacceptable to all of you or are you the sort of people that say no to everything if the game doesnt go in their favor all the time. |

I would have picked them up, then handed over their property back to them after the round...
Like in the real world, some clearly don't have any sense of ethics... PS: Thank god for these forums, my ignore list becomes longer (I use it as a reminder on who not to party with) Last edited by KrisTof; Jun 21, 2005 at 05:06 PM // 17:06.. |

If you had the slightest bit of class you would have given the items to the people who were supposed to get them.

just tonight, a fiery dragon sword dropped for one member, another asked for it, but the reserving player was afk. We waited and under all remaining players consent, the person who asked for it picked it up when it unlocked. This happened later in the same mission with a person who had been afk for much longer. Perhaps, for all fairness (cuz sometimes, I would agree with the person doing this, not in your situation obviously though) they should impliment a "release drop" button. After the timer runs out, you could get a 10 second or 15 second pop-up that says "release this item as public?" and once the timer runs out without a response, it becomes public by default. This way, nobody could do this stupid thing to you, and if someone is afk and you're choosing between go through the portal and wait god only knows how long for the person to come back, you can just grab the item and go through.

easy solution, if you are alive and do not pick up an item after 5mins, it becomes public. if you die, then all of your unpicked items will not go public at any time at all. the public rule only applies if you are alive.
recap: Alive, items go public after 5mins if they are unpicked Dead, items never go public, only until you are alive again and 5min rule apply i think a solution for afk ppl is that the game will boot the person who has afk for more than 10mins. i believe this is fair because afkers really annoy me and other ppl as well. ok firsty please dont mention anything about the real world in this game as i do know the game is designed to be as real as possible but it isnt real and we all know that.
for a fact in real life if most people found something lying around on the floor they wouldnt be returning it. secondly in real life you wouldnt let people die so since your basing most your ideas on what you would do in real life doesnt that mean that we should also ban people for letting other people die? i do get the reason some of you people are angry as it has happened to me many times but you just have to forget about it and try to be more careful with your lifes in future. all we can do is hope that arenanet and ncsoft pick up on some of your ideas and maybe there is a way to forward your ideas to them instead of talking between ourselfs? Someting similar happened to me the other day but we were on theother side much like some stated before. We had this jerk who claimed to be stuck with lag and couldnt move yet he could watch the battles without lag and never actually lagged out of them game. He just wanted the free ride. Not only that but he was very rude and keep spamming the chat while the rest of tried to fight. Well a few minutes after the lag a gold scroll feel for him. And he started bitching about how oneof needed to pick it so he could have it after we won. Well my husband did pick it up but after another 15 minutes of his spammin and rude behavior while they rest of where getng our butts kicked for him He did not recieve is scroll.

I had a guy in my guild who's inventory was full. He dropped a lot of what he was holding and I picked it up so he could free some spots for good picks. Afterwards when he had spots open I gave the stuff back.
Another time I helped somone by using my own salvage kits to liquidate their plain jane items into crafting materials and gave them back to them. It's this type of looking out for one another and the teamwork that goes with it that make gaming enjoyable. As an officer in my guild, I'm trying to share these qualities with my guildmates, and you know..... it's working. We halp each other out, and those of us who are higher and further in the game help, and give to the others not as far along. I also found that just helping out in general is cool. I was in Beacon's Perch with my lvl 20 warrior when this guy(not in my guild) asked me if I had any better weapons to sell him. I said yes, how much did he have to spend. He replied that he had 3 hundred and something, and some iron ore for a hammer if I had one. He was like level 12 or something. I said sure, and proceeded to sell him my extra gold hammer that had a 39 max damage and some other extras. When he got it he was in shock and couldn't thank me enough! lol now I bet he's kicking some serious tush with that hammer. Now I could have sold that for some nice gold, but hey, what the heck. It's fun to help instead of just being a greedy bastard. |

Is there anything that can be done to punish this particular person? I'm not so much upset about the loss of the item as the principle of having it stolen. Sure, I could just play with my guild/friends, but it shouldn't have to come to that... Sad, really.

Sorry, don't really think there can be anything done about it, I can guaruntee I'll never grp with this person, but I would suggest to avoid future incidents, if your low on health, grab your drops then worry about the mobs if your still alive
sorry again -Reiden |

there's really nothing you can do....but don't let this turn you into a player that grabs his drops in the middle of battle...I assure you that drop stealers are the minority. I've picked up blue/purple items that someone has forgotten to grab and at the end of the mission in TeamChat I let them know that they forgot to grab their purple/blue item and start a trade session with them. There's enough drops for everyone...there's no need to comprimise your morals and steal someone elses....there's also no reason to leave your team high and dry just to get that purple drop.

for the future patch, A-net should make the items that is drop for a specific players to be pick up by that person. That means if you die and there a gold storm bow assigned to you and you died, that bow would still be your to pick up after you died .. that my two cents

Ever notice when you complete a mission how a inventory box shows up asking if you want your loot? How bout that all loot is locked to a person and if he dies or evryone dies he still has the option to take it.

You all realize that the lockdown used to be only 30 seconds, and why he waited 5 minutes I'll never know, for I believe the item is reserved for your character for only 60 seconds now(possibly 3 minutes, but I highly doubt that) and not for 5 minutes, so if a purple or gold item drops, your best option is to pickup it up right away(it usually drops were you're fighting so you aren't leaving anyone high and dry).
