What are Zealous upgrades anyway? I hear about them all the time. What is so good about them?

Zealous upgrades lower your mana regen by one, but you get one mana for each time you hit someone. They are good if you are a warrior and hit a lot of people, as it can give you more mana than one pip of regen.
