What do you look for in a Guild Site?
I'm currently making a website for my guild and just wanted some advice. If you go to a guild website, what kinds of things are you interested in finding? What kind of information would you like to be there? Both for people in the guild and others just checking it out. I already have some ideas and a basic layout to the site, but am curious as to what others think.
Also, is there a very easy way of advertising a guild/guild site? I don't like spamming at all because it's rude and inpersonal. I simply need a way to let other players know that we are out there. Thanks |

Well, for me, I like to see a roster, to see how big the guild is, along with a general summary of what the guilds goals are. Forums are fun too

The forums are probably the most important thing you'll have on a guild site, and you should decide if you want them publicly-viewable or only guild members.
Also, as for advertising, why not just make a signature to include your URL and guild name and then post a lot in forums? |

Forums. I wanted to make a site for announcements...but hmm...we need to allow players to ask questions and be more interactive...hey!..Forums do that!
So now we have a proboards site, free, ez, and now, in 1.5 wks, we have 700 posts! Hurray for my guild! :P Plus, you can use a forum for unranked guild challenges as well as join requests. Check ours out. (please remove this if its considered an ad, or whatever) www.chinaintl.proboards42.com |

Ok things I have found to work.
1. make a noob charter and go helping poeple who are stuck on the starter quest, Do not rush them this doesnt help them with the game. 2. Try to start chatting with them while questing, ie two of our members were because we were talking while doing a quest and they found out that we were a mature causal guild that plays the game for fun and they wanted to join. 3. websites are nice but forums are for those who will use them. you can check our website out basic page layout out but working on a flash page just for fun. Thanks for the tips. Nothing really new, like I was hoping for, but some good insight. Especially thanks for the idea of using a signature to advertise, that seems obvious now, but I hadn't thought of it before.

We tend to have a bunch of stuff on our website and forums. Although we are redoing it a bit we like to document our gamiing communities history going back to 1997.
We are not getting into hosting not only screenshots but guild movies. http://www.allianceknights.net/guild/index.php |
