received damage (stupid question)
ok, i have seen shields that say something like, received damage -1, -2, etc...what exactly does this mean? is it something like, if you're faced against an 11-22 wand, and normally you'd get 22 damage, you get 20? or if a spell casted would cause 40 damage, it only causes 38?

The recieve damage -2, give you a base damage reduction of 2. So the answer is you are correct in your thinking. On the other hand I am not sure if the damage reduction applies to damage that ignores armor. You will have to get that info from someone else, sorry.

The -2 damage from a shield applies to all damage, including damage that ignores armor. That is not the case with either Absorption runes or Knight's armor.

The dmg reduction from the shields applies to all dmg and is final. Kinda like direct dmg but goes the other way. Say after all the "calculations" and you should receive 35 dmg, if your shield has a -2 dmg reduction, you will only receive 33 dmg.
