I want a Bear Pet
Ok, now I have seen 1 person with a bear..But I am trying to figure out how it is possible, when EVERY time I try it breaks the charm? Someone plz help me out...How do I get a bear? I was assuming that if there were some skill that stunned the bear or kept it from attacking somehow that would be a sure fire way, but nobody seems to possess such a skill...So, I am here for help..Any suggestions?

i wouldn't know for sure, but i'd guess the higher your beast mastery skill, the better chance you have... but that's just a guess.

hmmm - like Squrl said - the best thing to do is stick all your attribute points on beast mastery, but you're gonna have to level up a but more first - you can get to about level7/8 in presearing by just doing all the quests alone

Yeah, i had tried to get myself a bear when i was in pre-sear too. i had just given up after 4 different bears mauled me to death i just assumed that it couldn't be done, but maybe if you devote all your points to Beast Mastery you may be able to get one pre-sear.

Theres a few thread already on the forum, try
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=18526 The guy at the bottom sounds like he tamed one, me, I stuck with the stalker You might have to leave it for a bit - i'm not sure if you can tame one in pre-searing, although - you could be the first Apparently you used to be able to do it - but it might have been fixed in a patch (undocumented tho) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...ther/gw005.bmp Last edited by Judas Hawksriff; Jul 15, 2005 at 09:26 AM // 09:26.. |

Yes, he tamed one....at the end of the game. It may be worth it to try to get a bear in pre-sear just for the bragging rights
as for the level 7/8 comment. I saw a lvl 15 with the last character i created in Pre-sear ascalon. sorry, you edited while i was typing. too bad that image is so small i can't see his level. |

Hmm, are there any skills that stun or what not that you know of? Because I think that may work...

I have a feeling there was a thread somewhere that the ability to tame a bear pre-seering had been removed
I have just started a new character and been all over pre-seering and did not see a single 'friendly' Bear |

you need to go with another character. an interupter. you start your charm and when the bear tries to break the second character interupts..
it's the only way you're going to get one pre-sear |

You could always wait until Shiverpeaks. Because apparently Bears only like a green Ascalon and high-snowy peaks. Although those funny chocobo like birds can live and WILL live anywhere, it seems. Even in Charr infested land, where you think they'd be eaten for food.

And Charr must be the second dumbest to allow them to wander freely.
... I want a Yak companion. Those things rock. |

There is a way to get a bear once you get to Beacon's Perch. Take the henchies and use them as fodder to get by one to two fights until you find a bear on the right side of the valley in Lornar's Pass. Charm and die... lol I just got mine before the Ice Imps squashed me! Now, Out of three attempts, one had no bear, the other two times there was one. So it may be a bit of a hit or miss. There was just one, never more than one in that area, so keep your eyes peeled!

I heard that you used to be able to stun a bear (with a hammer of some sort? ive never been a warrior, so i dont know) and then use the charm animal while he's stunned.
But i also heard they fixed that or something. Edit.. Someone said you could use an interuptor or an interuppting skill to stop the bear from breaking the charm.. but are there any interuppting skills in pre-searing? |
