Is Lag Getting Worse For You?
The first 2 months of gw ownership have been fine, but over the past week leading to now the lag seems to have got more frequent and worse...anybody else experienced this?

yesterday lag was horrible for me, i tried doing a mission and every five seconds i would start lagging which does not make your healing skills look too good... but like many things i have on and off days, tuesday was like 4 hours of lag free playing..

I notice heavy lag on primetime on weekends. Overnight is slows down and runs smoother. Must have to be the Large amounts of people playing this game. But yeah-when everyone is out of work / school , you can proally cook an egg on the server.
BONUS - Anyone know how many servers A-Net uses to link this game ? |

I have Broadband and built a computer last year. Running 2.5 gig chip, 1 gig of ram and a 500g Graphics card. I must say i have disconnected from guild wars TWO times total. Both times were about 4-5 Hours into Fissure Under Heavy, Heavy Stress. Last night i saw someone Disconnect entering HOH. I think it has to do with what your running the game on. Mabe time to upgrade that 486 dx.

I have lag come and go. I do expect that since I'm on dial-up tho
However the lag is fairly intermittint, and tends to be worse at some points and non-existant at others. Generally it seems to lag around 5-8 pm USA time (uoi know, roughly at around that time for you folks) as well as a bit around my own 5-8 pm time. Apart from those 2 times it's generally ok with a few lag spikes here and there (which I believe is just my isp/connection fluctuating as it does periodically (and no, it's not regular and I can do for weeks without any problems)) As for the above comment about it's what you run GW on causing the lag. I've seen too many ppl with varying computers and connection speeds all complaining about lag spikes, so I doubt it has anything at all to do with your computer and connection. The lag is most likely caused by 1 of 2 things: 1. Guild Wars servers - there's either not enough of them to cope with the loading or they are not high enough spec'ed to cope with the load they are getting and thus are causing lag spikes as they try and deal with the volume of information they need to deal with. If the server's are getting full, it would definately cause lag and slowdowns as they try to process everyone's connections. 2. Guide wars "net" connection/bandwidth/routers - the lag might also be cause by the fact that GW's doesn't have enought bandwidth on it's connection to deal fully and properly with the loading. This would cause slowdowns and lag spikes as information trying to get to the servers would then get lost and have to be kept on being sent to/from the server before it gets received. Same thing with the routers, if they don't have enough routers in/out of the GW servers it would cause lag spikes at peak times. I know I'm no expert at networking or such, however I have had enough experience in other online games to know that when they had lag spikes/issues it was generally because they either didn't have enough servers to cope or their servers weren't powerful enough to cope or they had a lack of bandwidth or routers in/out that was causing slowdown/lag. so IMO, it has nothing at all to do with the client side - this lag we're *ALL* experiencing is all on GW's server side. It's either to do ewith their servers or bandwidth/routers IMO. |

Today it was ugly for me. like realy ugly. I tried moving a rune into a different bag. Took me about 7 tries to do it without lagging. as soon as i would click on it and move it slightly. freezes up. sound still goes. sound stops. sound clicks back on and then unfrozen but i dont have the run on my mouse anymore. so round 2. etc. for a while. its ugly. And sometimes when im running and then press "i" or "h" or sumthin like that. doesnt usualy like it

I sometimes have problems with my inventory. An item can drop for me, and I'll need to put something in the trash to make room for it, but as soon as I try, it freezes up, and my party disappears into the distance because I stop moving. It's really annoying, especially when you're on a mission.
Last night I lagged badly in Dragon's Lair, and we were on one of the last cinematics. Everyone presses skip, so I press it, and then I'm logged out with an Err=7. I didn't even get Droknar's on my map, even though the misson was complete after I logged back in (we'd done the mission and were going to attempt to kill Glint). It's really not good. |

Please see this thread that also deals with the recent lag spikes, etc:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=35357 Do as Alex says and make sure you report these issues, he'll be a happy man then and we may even help get it fixed. |

Yeah. I've been lagging worse too. Strangely enough, a few hours ago (i'd say last night... but then I remembered I haven't slept), whenever I opened my inventory, it lagged. And it was discolored (my inventory model guy was all silver and stuff. I think I took a screen cause one time it looked funny).
