What is a spike group and what is a smite group?

smite groups usually run the UW for loot from the smite crawlers.

Spike group generally will be Air Elementalists who chain high damage - armor bypassing nukes on the same person to casue such a 'spike' in damage that it will kill the person before the healer can react.

Smite groups will either be what the above poster said (grp that kills smite crawlers and thier buddies for crap loot) or a group with a heavy spec into Monk attribute of Smiting which deals pretty signifigant holy damage.
