I've bought a Hall some days ago, and haven't did a GvG battle yet...
I want to start with battles that doesn't affect the Guild ranking.

Quote:

Rated Challenge: Affects your guild rating and your rank on the Guild Ladder.
Unrated Challenge: Does not affect your guild rating or your rank on the Guild Ladder.

But there's also:
Automatic Match: Guild Wars randomly selects a guild for you to challenge. Does this affect your Guild rank?

Yes it does. It automatically looks for a guild that is also issuing a random challenge and is close to your guild rating.
