ascending?? - Guild Wars Forums

I started playing about two weeks ago, and am still very new to this game.but what ive noticed is people talking about ascension and "underworld"
what im wondering is what are these two enigmas.any info at all will be much apriciated

Ascension is where you fullfill your destiny!! and you must be ascended to get into underworld,underworld is a scary dungeon type area where all the monsters are really hard and the minimum amount of exp from the quests is 5000,since your a ranger,start learning how to trap and by the time you get to the underworld you can join all trapper teams and clear the underworld out in a very fun way,there is nothing about this game that I like more than trapping the underworld,its alot of fun

Ascension is a part of the storyline that your character will face in the desert. It means defeating your mirror image.

the Underworld is a place where you can only gain access from Temple Of Ages by kneeling to the statues when your server has the favor of the gods. You'll need to be ascended to access the Underworld as well.

In the crystal desert you ascend as part of the story line...

The Underworld and Fissure of Woe are bonus areas you can get to via the Temple of Ages once you Ascend for 1k per trip. It is essentially Bonus Mission areas not required to do, but has some really good quests and item drops in it. Your region also has to have favor of the gods to get the spirits to appear.

To get favor your country region (America, Europe, Korea) needs to win the hall of heroes a certain number of times. 5 times I believe to take it away from a country that has it.

When you go down to the underworld there is no resurrect shrine... it is just like a mission. your party dies you will not re-spawn... you have to go back to the temple of ages and start all over again. so you have to treat it like a mission and have resurrect skills and signets with you to ensure a successful expedition.
