is there a difference between them at ALL except looks?

nope, but the effects arent cumualative (i know i cant spell) so dont bother with the whole set

There's actually one difference stat-wise. Knight's Helm adds +1 to Strenght and Ascalon Helm adds +1 to Tactics.
