Hey guys im new to the game and have some questions.
1. What is the best secondary class for a rannger? I was thinking a necro because his curses would be helpful.
2.Does this game have a insane amount of customization? Like will I be able to tweak my characters to the exact look I want them? 3.Whats this post-searing and pre-searing ive been hearing about? 4. Do I need to be in a guild to complete the game or is it to hard to do solo? Thanx in advance |

4. You don't have to be in a guild to play. All you have to do is grab some henchmen or look for a group.

As far as customization is concerned, you can mix armor pieces and dye them the colors you want.

1. i dont know that there really is a best second proffesion for a ranger. i went ele for mine, but i never us ANY skills from ele anymore so im guna switch. necro could be good; you should try it.
2. there really isnt that much custimization avalable outside of dying ur armor. 3. you will find out...... 4. a guild is completly unnessesary. tho it can sometimes be helpful to be able to ask guildies for help, you can beat the game just as easily just by getting normal groups |

I have a Me/R, and the classes complement each other very well. My best build so far by a lot, over W/Mo and N/E. I'm not crazy about Necro, but maybe I just have to learn to use it better.

As for which profession is the best for Ranger, it's up to your playing style. There isn't really a 'bad' choice, but some of them blend well.
For example, if you build your Ranger up as a ranged direct damage distributor, perhaps Elementalist Fire or Air skills would be best. If you're more of a defensive/protective Ranger, Monk skills might be useful, or again, Elementalist Earth skills. Rangers have a healing skill which might be complimented by Monk healing skills. Monk Smiting skills are good for all classes when dealing with the Undead. If you want to be an expert in all non-magical combat skills, Warrior would be good. Rangers have the second-best armour in the game, so they can potentially use Warrior more effectively than certain other classes can. If your Ranger is set up as an interrupter, Mesmer skills would be ideal. Necromancer hexing skills might be useful if your Ranger is into crippling or weakening your opponents, or if your Ranger is a pet master -- imagine a super-pet combined with an army of super-minions. You'd be like a one-man (or woman) army! My own personal (primary) Ranger is a Ranger/Monk, but I don't actually use any of the Monk skills (except for Resurrect). I also had a Ranger/Necromancer which was effective. As I said, it depends on your playing style and your build. Ranger is a pretty flexible profession, so you have some degree of choice. Ranger skills are so diverse that you don't really need to even equip secondary skills.

1. ranger doesn't really NEED a secondary...of all the classes in the game the Ranger is probably the only one that doesn't need(or even use in most cases) a secondary. necro would be a great secondary for ranger as you can use well of blood to keep yourself healed.
2. no there isn't much customization available in the game...you will inevitably look just like everyone else. 3. Pre-searing = pretty ascalon(tutorial world...you can do most of this solo) Post-Searin = most argue it's where the game begins(you won't be able to do much of this solo your first time through). 4. You don't need to be in a guild to complete the game. You can grab pick-up-groups(PUGs) in any town/outpost or you can opt to use henchman. |
