Economical Problems
I've been thinking...In guild wars everyone knows its not easy to get gold, and that the economy is very messed up, also everyone is angry that there spot gets nerfed.
this is what ive been thinking, A-net nerfs spots to prevent bots from farming there. People buy from ebay botters becuase spots get nerfed. If A-net wouldnt nerf spots and make it hard for bots to get easy gold, then we the non-botters would be able to make gold ourselves. and if we could make gold ourself no one would have to buy from botters and that would end the bot problem right? does that make sense |

no one would buy from bots if they could make gold themselves, therefore stopping the bot problem if anet wouldnt nerf spots then we could make gold ourself!!! it makes me mad, i havent bought from ebay yet but i might!

Anet includes everyone when reaching their decisions. The main problem I see happening if gold were easy to get is that inflation would exponentially increase. You might say that as long as you are getting enough gold you can keep up with the rising economy.
However, the casual gamer will be left in the dust. He'll be in crystal desert with nothing better than ascalon armor (perhaps an overexaggeration). It is a nice idea, but I don't think it takes everyone into account. And don't buy from ebay.....EVER!!! |

If they dont nurf the areas to make it hard to get money that just means the people who bot would become even richer,

You talk about the economy being messed up and how hard it is to get gold, but then you say you may just go engage in an activity which will make the economy even worse (buying from botters on eBay). That doesnt make sense. In a more general sense, i.e. not just you, do people not realize that their actions have consequences? They go buy off eBay because they are either lazy, impatient, or 12 and then complain about how bad everything is. When you support botters and gold farmers you are, quite literally, promoting the destruction of the game economy. You are also supporting sweatshops in places like China where people are paid something like 12 cents an hour to farm gold. Its almost like slave labor. Personally, I'll never spend real money on a imaginary item. A.net could decide to close up shop tommorow and that 100 platinum you spent $20 on will just disappear into thin air. Meanwhile, that gold farmer that has your $20 has enough money to pay 1 worker for over 150 hours. And if Guild Wars shuts down he'll just move on to the next game. Hopefully something to think about before you decide to eBay. |

<shrug> I don't get it. I was having some trouble at first....but once you catch on to the fact that EVERYthing in this game is WORTH SOMETHING....just play the friggin game!
Figure out what raw materials you get by PLAYING are worth the most...and in what fashion..maybe turning wood into parchment is your thing...maybe not....and then DO THAT! ....and don't whine because the price is down today...just don't SELL today wait til TOMORROW or the NEXT DAY when the price is up! I personally B@#$%% myself about the inconsistency of the economy...more in the vein of trying to figure out what makes it tick. I am CERTAIN that it is not self contained....or at least not allowed outside certain boundries.....but I get that opinion from PLAYING THE GAME...and WATCHing what and when I sell things. Dude...if I can do 80+k in less than a week as a L13 w/r....without buying from ebay.....you can too.... |

Exactly... people always seem to want the Uber Item to sell for Bookoo gold instantly... Problem is those are worth the most cause they are RARE, and thats good. but heck I took a bunch of wood and crafter rolls of parchment and sold all that off for a large profit to NPCs. Also I use my Charcoal (probably the coolest crafting material in the game) and a mess of Iron ingots to make lots of Steel Ingots and Got a very very large profit from the NPCs, and drove the price down for everyone else too boot... so there is Plenty to make gold off of just from playing the game and collecting material for later crafting, and resale purposes. sure it takes time, but with the so called farming spots getting eliminated this is one of many legitimate ways to make gold easily. I don't keep much on me but I'm now averaging 30k between my 3 characters to share. and I dont need it often. Half the time I'm giving someone in my guild gold for stuff they want. Not all my characters have finished yet, but I play when I want too. Not everyday. I play many different games of which GW is one... so I dont get as fanatical as some...
Now back in the beta, GW was like Crack to me. Up for 50 hours of nonstop playing... And when you got off at the end of the BWE it was like having withdrawals... but that was cause of the limited availability of play... Now I can play anytime so its nice to take it slow. |
