Staff Upgrades + Arena in Amnoon Oasis - Guild Wars Forums

Two questions:

First, can any kind person give me a list of the upgrades available for a staff? I already have wrapping of fortitude, and don't see the point in a head of insight that has less than +5 energy, and can't afford one that has +5. So i'm wondering what else is available to me. I'm an e/mo pyromancer. Apologies if the info is provided on the site somewhere, i have had a look and couldn't see it.

Second, I see from the map on this site that there is an arena in Amnoon Oasis. And when i was last there, i had a look on my in-game map (the m one and the u one) and i could see the little white swirl that i took to be the entrace. I couldn't figure out a way to get to it though. And i couldn;t find the usual arena gate guard anywhere. Is this arena only unlocked for ascended chars or something?
