Help me to clear out my mind!
Hello, im pretty new at GW and got a couple of questions i really need to have a answer on, I have been reading on these forums for a while and i starting to get hang of how GW works.
The thing im wonder about is, I wanted to make my PvE char for PvPing but after a while i realeased that i didnt need to make a PvE character for PvP, I had always thought i could get the best gear from PvE, and than use it in PvP, but it seems like that I can make the ultimate perfect wepon on my pvp char when i have unlocked the wepon bonuses, etc, 30 hp, lifesteal. so whats the point of buying these good wepons for like 70k?, it is just for make the PvE easier or? for me its like waste of money, and can the PvE items get better mods than the PvP ones?. so what is my Pve character for?, in mine mind so is PvE characters for unlocking the skills and the PvP runes etc. so i can get access to all Pvp gear. And its seems stupid to use your PvE char for PvPing because then u will have to change skills and attribute points whole time. and spend alot of money on first the 15k armor, then a good axe etc, and these expensive 30hp on wepon. Please tell my what u use your Pve char. or just say if i have anything wrong. well just now have i made a W/mo, working on a E/R and than N/Me. I will try to only play W/x because i love warrior and do mostly only play melee classes in games. warrior/rogue in wow, barb/pala in d2. etc |

PvE character is mainly to unlock better (including elite) skills so you can use them in PvP.

Yes, the upgrades/weapons that sell for high price is to make PVE easier. Early in the game, if you complete quests you sometimes get some pretty unique items that you wont be able to create using the PVP character creation options. There is also classy armor later on (nice looking; but somewhat debatable) in the game that is only available to PVE characters.

Another thing...
If you are wanting to PvP there are also arenas in Ascalon, Yak's Bend, Lion's Arch, and a team arena in Droknar's Forge. If you have a guild, you can do Guild vs Guild battles all with your PvE character. It is quite fun.

Interesting. Personally, I use my PvE player to play the game. This includes PvE, PvP, GvG - I have great fun doing so.
EDIT: One need not pay 15k for armor in PvE... I got the same armor level from collectors' armor (ie FREE). 15k is for looks, it's not necessary! Last edited by Sofonisba; Aug 11, 2005 at 04:12 PM // 16:12.. |

PvE is, as stated before me; for unlocking/finding certain weapons & upgrades combos that you may want. But it's also for playing through the game content outside of the PvP aspect.
-going thru the storyline missions, queust and seeing all of the areas you read about in these forums. A PvP created build is only usable for PvP and can earn you faction pts which you can use to unlock runes/items etc. but that character cannot venture out into the game itself. As also stated by Sofonisba - you're PvE character can not only play the storyline but as well participate in ALL PvP/GvG areas of the game. I do this with my Air/Mes build and that is why he was built in the first place. My Fire ele really isn't feasible in PvP cause players are typically smarter than NPC mobs and will move out of the big AOE dmg dealing spells I can throw out. |

Patrik_h88: You seem to imply that GW is mainly about PvP, and that PvE is merely the "foreplay" for the real thing. But for myself and many others that's not the case. You can enjoy many many hours of GW, just the roleplaying campaign, without ever entering an arena. THEN, when you've finished the game and get bored with PvE, you're ready for PvP. And at this point you should have unlocked enough stuff that you can hold your own in any arena.
If you're new to GW, concentrate on PvE first. If you're really so keen on PvP, give it a try in the Ascalon or Yak's Bend Arena. In any case, start with a PvE character to learn the basics, or you will be RAPED by the experienced players in PvP. |

Maybe I can help you.
RPG-character sword 15-22 Fire dmg Armor penetration 10% Health +30 Damage 15% while enchanted PvP-character sword 15-22 Fire dmg Health +30 Damage +15% while enchanted You may ask what the difference is. The PvP-sword can only have 2 mods added. They are; The Fiery hilt and the +30 HP. While an RPG-sword got 3 mods. They are; AP, 3+ HP and Fiery Hilt. |

the hole 15k armor thing is just a waste of money collectors can get u the same lv armor for free and if u just dont got the time to get the collectors item then just have your armor crafted at the forge.
