I've seen people get Rubies before and I've heard of Sapphires. But now that I have one of my own, I'm curious. What are they used for and how much are they worth?

Nobody knows what they are used for. Thats why they are expensive right now. People are expecting the summer update to reveal a new armor crafter who requires you to have rubies and saphires as crafting materials.

They aren't used for anything at the moment. Either in the update (which is why people are hoarding them) or in Chapter 2, some people think they will be included in armor somehow. I think they will be attached to your armor/weapons for cosmetic reasons (much like dye). Think about decrative sword hilts and it makes sense. I doubt they will really be USEFUL, more like status symbols (thus I'm going to sell them to as many guillable people as possible who think they will create leet armor or something).

Anet is so screwed up. They'll probably make a deal where you have to eat 100 sapphires to sh!t a diamond, in whch case you'll use that for some future update to enable matrix mode.

Whatever, and yellow dye will be like 192K
