Noob Question - Guild Wars Forums

I am new to the game and I am playing my first character a lv 12 R/E and I would just like to know the basis of being ascended. What happens? Where does it happen in the game and ya... it would be greatly appreciated.

well it's in the crystal dessert, You have to do three missions, then the final task is to fight a copys of yourself. If you go prepared it's prety easy. So ascending gives you 20k XP.
After ascending you are now able to goto Underworld and the Fissure of Woe. To go there you need to goto the Temple of Ages or another temple (I havent been there) that's in the southern shiverpeaks.

Cant you go from any statue of grenth or balthazar as long as your nation has the favour? But ToA is the easiest place to get to as far as i am aware
