Default Highest Energy Amount Possible

I have a lvl 20 N/E looking for the Highest Energy possible, a Caster I don't care about weapon dmg or what not just want alot of Energy for my spells.
Blood(maxed out) as Main have Soul reaping around 10 as well

Was using a staff for a while +10 some skill Stats I recently went on a rampage to buy a Cesta/wand combo that would give me +10 Energy each.

After spamming the GW channels for hours in every city I have someone not so politely mentioned that one handed weapons don't usually have an energy mod unless it's a special/rare and even then it has a -energy regen mod on it. He also mentioned how my stupidity and noobishness ruined his view of the civilized world or something, dunno I drifted out after that.

Does this seem fair to anyone?, I usually solo with a Necro and simply want more Energy for my style of play, why wands/one handed weapons don't have Energy on them is mind boggleing to me.

Anyway I saw somewhere that you can have Energy output of about 60'ish. I would like a higher energy weapon withought resorting to downgrading my Armor for the +1 and +2 to max Energy.

After searching the forums/net for hours on this subject I thought I'd try asking so please don't give me grief about "look it up" I spent hours... HOURS!

I'm a Mesmer/Necromancer and am in love with energy like yourself. it is so warm and comforting to have that I sometimes... uhm, nevermind all that. To answer your question, one handed weapons and an off-hand foci along with energy buffing armor is the way to go.

For my Mesmer, I have the 1.5K Enchanter armor as well as a cane and a chalice that altogether gives me 60 units of energy with a regen of 3. I can get that to +69 energy as soon as I can find a max damage Cane that has the +5 energy bonus built in as well as a +12+15 chalice over the +8+15 that I have now.

That's as high as I think it can go, and it is higher than what is possible if you went with a two-handed top-tier staff (which benefits you better if you want armor and health improvements with energy). Actually, you can theoretically go to +84 max energy, but you'd also need a second -1 regen in a +15 energy Cane. Your total regen would be only 2....screw that. =P

You can alternatively settle for +59 energy as your max with an off hand that gives +12+5 instead of the penalizing +15 (-1 regen) that I use. You don't hold as much energy, but your regen is slightly faster. I estimate I lose 10% in regen speed with the negative effect of having the -1 penalty, but I manage fine.

I can always switch to my staffs when I need more armor and faster regen rates, but switching in mid charge doesn't speed up getting back to full max as it immediately subtracts out a ton of stored energy when you try to cheat the system.

Maybe someone else has more info?

Oh, and if anyone has a Domination cane that gives either +5 energy or +15 energy -1 regen (I'll use it over my current chalice), then contact me in game and I'll make you super-rich :

Thanks for replying to my post arredondo

On review of your post I've decided to stick with my armor not downgrade it and find a cane with +5 Energy, that would bring me to 47 total, unless the canes range from +5 to +15 and the cutoff for the -regen is somewhere around 10.

For instance a cane with +9 Energy would have no -regen however a cane with +10 Energy would have a -regen, Then I'll settle for +9

Does anyone know if they range, and/or where the cutoff point is.

As an Elementalist you get the Energy Storage attribute which allows you to increase your energy level. I currently have 72 (4 pip regen) with a 9 in Energy Storage, a Staff with +10 Energy w/a Staff Head w/+3 Energy (so +13 energy on my staff which is 1 more than the max on any artifact/idol). As a Necro I would think that you're not going to be able to get to the same max level as an Elementalist because of the Energy Storage attribute. You may have been better reversing your professions as Elem/Necro if you are more concerned with your energy level.

But you may want to try to buy a Staff Head with + Energy if you're going to use the staff. I've heard of a +5 Staff Head so that'd give you +15. Since Wands do not have upgrades, and artifacts/idols have a max +12, I found that going with a Staff was a better choice. I had a +20 health Staff Wrapping and the +3 Energy Staff Head, along with the built in +10 Energy / Improve casting recharge & then customized for the additional +20% damage.


Just read the post above, are you saying that you have a +15 artifact? I've heard they only go to +12.

I have a Frost artifact with energy +11 but also has a mod of energy +10/ energy regen -1
So its +21 energy.

While wands may not have upgrade components, you can find wands that give upgrade-like bonuses. For example, I'm using a rare fire wand that gives +5 energy.

I think it is possible to get higher energy. Try getting Grim Cestas and rods/wands that you can use from collectors. There's a thread about what the items the collectors give somewhere on this forum.

I have a Divine Symbol that gives me +23 energy, +30 health, -1 energy regen (req. 6 divine). I also have a Healing Ankh that gives +21 energy, +30 health, - 1 energy regen (req. 6 healing). I got them both from collectors.

My lvl 16 Me/Mo has 66 energy carrying a Cane that gives +15 energy (-1 energy regen) and +21 healing ankh (-1 energy regen). I just switch out with a staff between fights to regen my energy.

It's possible to get some focii through quest rewards, collectors, or random drops, with large energy bonuses (and -1 energy regen). The highest energy focii I've seen is +27 (+12, +15, -1 regen).

With only 10 points into energy storage I can hit 87 energy (with that +27). If I went for the absolute max of 16 (with superior rune), that'd give me 105 energy. With a +10% morale it'd probably be around 110-115 or so, because the 10% only adds to your base energy and doesn't count armor and focii bonuses, not sure if it counts energy storage bonus though.

I'm not saying it's a good idea (a superior storage rune for an extra 9 energy at the cost of a lot of hp probably isn't worth it), but it's probably possible.

With Ether Prodigy (my most used elite) I never really have energy concerns as it is (with my standard energy of 75).

Quick tip (spoiler, I guess): Outside Nolani Academy, the Charr Carving collector will trade you a Fire wand which gives +5 energy. Pretty much all of my casters use this wand, unless I want +15/-1 regen, or to actually do damage (but -most- casters don't really care about doing damage, energy is more important).

This makes it relatively trivial to get +17 with weapons, using this wand and a +12 focus. Not that those are REALLY trivial to get, but hardly impossible. If you do the +15/-1 regen, that's +27 instead.

I believe I found some collector who gave me a Smiting wand which was +15/-1 regen north of Galrath, but someone else must have far more useful info than that somewhere. =)

After that, it's pretty class specific for how to get more energy. Specific armor, or Energy Storage for Elementalists.

And, because I thought that this must be what the thread was about when reading it, an elementalist could get:

30 (base)
+48 (16 in Energy Storage, with superiour rune and headpiece)
+27 (from weapon & focus, as above)
===
105 Total Energy!

I'm probably missing something, though. I only have one max level character. Is it possible to have more than 105 energy? Through some rare items that give bonus to Energy storage AND give +5 energy, maybe?

Plus, a wand can have that type of bonus too, I think. So the max is 120. I should know, I achieved it with a pre-made.

i currently have 109 energy 14 in energy storgae (12 +major rune) A staff that gives +15 and a artifcat that gives + 22 ( i think) But both those give -1 energy regen

If your worried about the -2 energy regen (-1 from each 1 handed weapon that has +15 energy), then have another weapon set to switch too, wait for the energy to regen to a decent level, and then switch back.

I have a second focus that I use for this purpose (+15 energy -1 regen). I use the one without the regen penalty until I run out and if I need to cast one or two more spells I'll swap for the extra 15 energy. One catch, though. If I switch to the higher focus and use the extra energy it gives then switch back, it seems that it puts your energy negative. It will show zero, but will be several seconds before it starts regening again.

thats not true you can have +27 energy with an idol/focus

You can get a +27E/+30H/-1R Collectors Grim Cesta.
You can get a Wand with +12E/-1R
And you can use the Scar Armor for additional energy.

Without the -1Rs you can get a +5E wand and a +12E ofhand.

Super Max Energy for a N/E is about 74ish.

You can still wear Scar Patterns for additional energy other than the things mentioned in above posts.
