Scams....sigh...why? - Guild Wars Forums

Well, I just got scammed for the first time in GW. Of course the name was deleted shortly after they did it and I have little recourse other than to moan about it here and ask a question or two.

I guess the first is why? Do it enough and you'll probably get banned, is it worth $50 to get my 10/10 sundering string for 100g instead of 100k because you did the ole "my inventory is full let me cancel the trade and restart" scam? Sure, my fault for not paying attention and can't really cry about it too loud. But, you're doing nothing but spoiling it for others, why? It's a reflection of real life, to be honest. If you scam in game you more than likely do it in real life as well.

I'm an honest person, made my money the hard way. I'm not going to die because I'm out a 100k string or that I can't do anything about it. I guess I just wanted to take a moment and say hey, come on guys, it's a game. Why scam for a few pieces of code when it's more of an effect on your personality and real life morals?

You can have my string, you know who you are. I'm sure this post will last all of 5 mins before getting deleted though I did ask a question. Feel free to flame it if you wish, I don't mind. Like I said, it was my fault and the 4-5 others that it happened to. I guess I just wanted to say, when I lay my head on my pillow tonight, I'll still feel good about myself.

You, I hope a drake with severe indigestion sits on your head after gobbling down a case of refried beans followed by a prune juice chaser.

Because scammers simply don't care. If they want something, they take it. Any negative effect it has on others is meaningless to them.

Yeah, I got scammed once too Trixie. Same way, but luckily it was only a 4k item instead of a 100k one. Yeah these people are idiots.

It's a scam paying that much for any sundering string. 10% for 10% penetration?
Meanwhile, a 5:1 vampiric string is a definite extra 5 damage each hit. What good does 10% penetration really do? On a warrior with a max shield, that's what, 101 armour? And then in the off chance the sundering string does anything, you'd do a whopping amount of damage equal to him having a mere 90 armour.

How did you get a "professor" rating when you go completely off subject? The point was the scam, not that someone is willing to pay 100k for a string, regardless of damage.

I didn't think that could go for 100k. I gave the few I had away free. Useless things. Then again, after I've got all my rich things, I have no use for gold.

Well, I imagine sundering strings are one of the more popular items to scam people with. As anyone stupid enough to pay that much for one would be scammed easier than anyone, say, buying a +5 defense grip.

So, the OP is basically telling us he got scammed for the hell of it?
He tells of getting scammed, etc etc. And then ends by saying he is completely fine with it and couldn't care less.
Well I got highly coloured energy drink squirted on my white shirt today, but it doesn't really stain the much after it dries out. I am completely fine with this.
The squirter in question, was below average hieght.

I am assuming the OP is male.

I got scammed out of 100k and just got sick and tired of it all and quit. Its not the money thats made me mad its the fact i was gonaa give 90% away i have 7.5k armour for all my guys and i use colecters items so i donr need money. so when it comes down to it im being nice and this person is an arse but he can have fun with his money cuz he will get his in the end maybe i might of helped him sometime down the road or giving him money. meh oh well i like WOW now its fun the only problem is on GW i am ultra cool guy who leads a cool guild and has a buch of sweet chars on WOW im just a newb
