Why is Korea vs. Continents
I do not understand why it is europe vs america vs korea. why is it not just asia. Which server to chinese people play on and surely it would be better to change it to asia?

Chinese people don't play... yet. I've heard that Korea has strict standards of internet access and therefore must run some type of check for every account using the nation's servers. That's unconfirmed for me but it would be the best explanation.

But would the government be able to run the checks even though the koreans play guild wars on the asia server?

As far as computer terminology goes, there are three major server "areas"--Korea, Europe, and America. Each is a separate installation of actual hardware which serves each particular region. What Europe and America do is allow free access by any IP to them, which enables your computer to personally connect to that piece of hardware in Europe, all the way across the ocean.
If the screening thing is true, it would stand to reason that the only IPs allowed into the hardware located in Korea are ones based within the legal government of the nation itself, i.e. Korea. They will be able to freely access America and Europe because there are no restrictions, but they would not be able to bring friends to the Korean server, which might be why we can switch between EU and NA, but not Korea. Depending on the Korean/Chinese regulations, they might or might not segregate servers, but they will probably end up doing so. |

AFAIK, the Koreans seem to be all by themselves in that only Koreans have access to the Korea realm. All other asians, like those from Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia are all defaulted to the American realm. |

Australia used to get put on the American server when the game first came out.. a few month later, it automatically put you on the Euro server, so swapped over to American when I found out.

Korea has a strict set of standards for on-line game play. To play games of this type in Korea one must put in their korean social security number when they register.

this seams highly unfair it is basically america (including south america), australisia, asia vs europe vs korea.
i am think they will have to organise it so it is done according to time zones this would increase the numbers of players on possibly the european server |

my brother is in Hong Kong and he started playing during the BWE. Chinese are around GW for a long time already. He told me about some Chinese GW sites before GW's official release. They, like us, can choose from America or Europe, but most, if not all, choose America.
Yeah I've heard something like that about Korea as well. Some sort of check before you can play on Korean server. |

South Korea is as much a capitalist society as U.S. So it is actually Asia+ Australia + North/South America + part of Europe + Africa vs South Korea vs Rest of Europe. |
