All over the place. However, since you're reading these forums, you're in a good place right now. The majority of the info posted here is fairly accurate and inaccuracies are usually noted by someone who notices the mistake and corrects it.
Sorrows Furnace (mission) + Grenth's Footprint (area) are the summer expansion that we should be seeing very soon. (within the next 3 weeks or so) Gaile Grey is one of the PR people for ANet and she posts here fairly regularly. I can't remember if it was a post or in an interview, but recently she hinted at something for around Halloween, but no clue what it'll be. Chapter 2, will be roughly the same size as the initial release, is due in the first half of 06 and will cost the same as the initial release. From then on forward, ANet has said more chapters will be released every 6-9 months. |

All I can say is that if the new expansions have that same linear progression as the primary release I wont be buying any expansions.

I can almost guarantee they will have the same linear progression...
why? because it's the exact same dev team. I have no doubt that a few things will be vastly improved though. Things such as voice actors (god I hope they caught this one), map layouts, hidden/bonus quests and (hopefully) multiple storylines. A few of the things I doubt they'll fix are repetition of monsters and poor script. And of course I'm quite sure that all the great things that are in this game will be in the next. |

If there wasn't linear progression, it'd be impossible to advance a story coherently that involved a world that seemed alive and progressing.

I think what he meant was either
a: linear = no real decisions to be made for priorities, just do one, then the next... no branching storylines and consequently no variant endings b: linear = very few path decisions or exploration, all the zones (most of the zones) are lines to be walked along... except for the desert and a bit of Kryta there are few plains/forest kind of areas where you can walk in any direction. |

i'll be buying the expansion if it contains 3 things
1. ability to level to 30 (or higher) 2. u can have more than 4 characters 3. maybe a new race but definately a new class is needed, something totally different like.... um... dunno really and i just thought of a fourth so... 4. lots of new skills, and not just copies of old ones, e.g we have fireball, meteor, immolate, incindanry bonds etc for a fire ele that all do the same thing with 1 or two minor differences. for a ranger a good skill would be one that makes your aggro cirle smaller for 20 seconds, it would be under wildernes survival. another idea is illusion mesmer should be able to disapear fom the map for 10 seconds, not actually leave. just the little dot disapears, a good skill for pvp. maybe i should be on the dev team for chapter 3? lol well thats just my imput feel free to appraise or insult it...... |

Guess you won't be buying it then because the level cap is 20 and will be staying that way. To depart from this would be to purposely add imbalance to the game.

QUOTE] well you get 3 out of your 4 you will not get the level up which is completely unneeded and would break the game but the rest of your bunch is mentioned for possible inclusion with new professions/skills to go with them and additional character slots to put them in also new playable race was mentioned as possible why bump the character 10 levels just to fight enemies the same number of levels higher? oh yaeh.........so you can look down on inferior noobs who havent grinded the levels you have |

I agree with the above posters.
Increasing the level cap is a bad idea. This is a thinking mans game and I personally hope it stays that way. I played Asherons Call 2 for a couple of months, (my first game of this type), and couldn't even find people to play with because they were all "uber" chars who were way above me in level. Nice people in the game, but wasn't happy with the long grind to level and lack of other players, although I heard that game is closing down. Keep it the way it is. |

The level cap I must agree on.
It would seem really lame to play an entire expansion of the game starting at level 20..... and ending at level 20. What would experience be for then. And when you guys say it would imbalance the game, I really doubt it would. PVP and PVE. Players would get more life to survive against the more powerful skills right? Besides, if some imbalance did occur, Anet could fix it by analyzing the skills and attributes etc. |

Level cap increases are pointless...if you make it 30, then in two months people want 50, then 60, then 70...where does it end level 300 ? To have a balanced and linear game you need the cap to be permanent. We need hundreds of areas and missions that all cater for level 20...it's breadth of content not linearity of content you see. An expansion pack will be lots of new skills, classes and areas for level 20's, it will be alternative skills to the base game, they won't be more powerful. It's about more choices for skillful players, not a default victory because you spent days levelling to level gazillion . For once, casual players with skill can beat the hell out of dedicated players with hours of time .

well that was kind of mean but you are right. GW allows people to make a good character build without spending huge amounts of time. It allows players to make a strategy and apply that strategy. I just hope sooo much there is a new character class in the future updates to play.

Apologies, I edited it because it was indeed a bit mean, I was trying to make a point about this being the first game to bring casual and hardcore players onto a more level playing field - but I phrased it wrongly.
