Can you get any air elementalist skills if, elementalist is your secondary during the pre-searing or do you have to wait for skill trainers to come along

Unfortunately you have to work with what you can get. As far as elementalist skills go, that means you're pretty much stuck with fire magic until Lion's Arch. Fire does work wonders up until the Crystal Desert, so it's not all bad.

I dunno, Fire magic is awful nice in Lornar's Pass...

The only air skills you can get in pre-searing is Lightening Javelin & Blinding Flash. Talk to the elementalist in Foibles Fair - Ralena Stormbringer - tio get the quest which gives you those skills.
